SIGN-OFF UNDERWRITER

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Underwrite and sign-off on one to four family residential conventional transactions in compliance with FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA Investor specific and State and Federal requirements. Underwrite jumbo mortgage loans.
Review processor submissions of complete credit files and make loan decisions based on Investor requirements. This includes all credit, income, asset and collateral documentation as well as Purchase & Sales Agreements and disclosures. All loans must be complete and meet specific program and state guidelines.
Review all conditions of the loan approval and ensure all conditions are satisfied prior to submitting the loan to the Closing Department for completion of the closing package.
Assist Closing and Post Closing with any underwriting or suspense issues.
Provide guidance to sales personnel in the structuring of loans for appropriate programs and assist processors with any questions regarding conditions or required documentation.
May act as a team lead and provide support, guidance and training to assigned staff.
Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:
Minimum of two years experience underwriting residential mortgage loans.

Knowledge/Ability:
Full knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC and FHA guidelines required. Ability to apply specific Investor guidelines with each submission to ensure compliance required.
Full knowledge of VA and USDA guidelines preferred but not required
Complete understanding of the legal, compliance and Investor requirements of residential mortgage products including conforming, alternative and government programs.
Ability to handle full caseload of submissions of both purchases and refinances with finite lock periods. Must be able to review submissions thoroughly, make sound loan decisions and work at an acceptable pace so as to avoid delays and/or extensions.
Excellent follow up, problem solving and analytical skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills and strong attention to detail.
Proficiency in various computer software programs including Microsoft Office, database management and other business applications.
Flexibility to handle constantly changing multiple priorities and work well under pressure in a fast paced environment.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to sit, walk or stand for extended periods.
