The Underwriting Associate position contributes to the achievements of the Denver Branch goals as well as corporate goals relating to retention, service and producer/client management. Within this position, the Underwriting Associate will be responsible for supporting the underwriter as part of the renewal process for a book of business ranging from $5,500,000 to $7,000,000 in written premium. Additional responsibilities include: developing information and recommendations for discussion with the Underwriter, analyzing account specific information including but not limited to updating risk analysis, catastrophe peril analysis and evaluation, document loss information and trends, review of loss control reports and documenting outstanding recommendations, preparing authority referrals for discussion with underwriter, and reviewing account rounding opportunities. The Underwriting Associate also coordinates the renewal process with the processing center which includes completing all issuance instructions, including compliance related forms, coverages and final premiums by line of coverage and is responsible for maintaining complete electronic file integrity for the renewal of each account. This position reports to Operations Service Department manager.

Required Skills:
The ideal candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills as well as mathematical aptitude. Must demonstrate strong business acumen and critical thinking skills which lead to confident decision making. Ability to learn quickly, prioritize work and perform within time constraints. Basic knowledge of underwriting principles and policy forms is a plus. Strong time and desk management skills will aid the candidate in meeting or exceeding the established business goals.

Must have demonstrated proficiency in Word and Excel; and basic PC navigation required. reviewing and applying online reference manuals; SBU specific guidelines;

Education and Experience:

Prefer college graduate
High school degree or equivalent
Previous experience in similar role preferred
