Underwriting and Closing Associate

Job Description:
Work with Real Estate lending group to advance new
business originations including underwriting due
diligence, closing, and syndications matters

Job Requirements:
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Processing new senior loans originated by Real
Estate group
  • Drafting, reviewing, and assisting in negotiation of
term sheets and confidentiality agreements
  • Assisting with the review of internal credit
documents including credit memos, background checks,
BSA forms, and Third Party reports
  • Supporting the management of “open issues” in the
loan document negotiation between Borrower and
Company's outside counsel in close coordination with
Company's internal counsel and origination group
  • Overseeing loan closings and coordination of this
process with internal counsel, external counsel,
Company's loan portfolio, and Company's origination
group
  • Supporting/reviewing post-closing matters including
syndications
Education and Experience
  • 2-5 years of experience in a law firm or financial
institution
  • Experience in structuring, negotiating, and closing
complex commercial real estate loans to
middle-market borrowers with a focus on the legal
documentation
  • MBA-JD degree preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • High work standards and subject matter expertise
  • Ability to adapt and assume significant
responsibility and workload
  • Knowledge of real estate lending, title, portfolio
acquisition, owned and leased collateral and related
matters, UCC RA9. Bankruptcy, workout, and
syndication experience a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills as
well as organizational skills
  • Ability to work closely and effectively with
internal and external resources
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently in
a fast paced environment, as well as to effectively
manage closing process
