A Unit Clerk functions as a member of the health care team by processing medical record data. They accurately collect, process and maintain medical record data in collaboration with the health care team, to facilitate the availability of ongoing patient information in a timely manner. They maintain unit stock medications, supplies and equipment to ensure economical utilization and availability of items for patient care and staff needs and are a major communicator and facilitator between all members of the health care team, patients and guests.
High school education or G.E.D required. Basic data entry skills, basic typing, filing organizational skills. Two or three week orientation. Requires the ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds.
This position may be cross-trained as a Nurse Assistant in order to flex to unit needs. A two week Nurse Assistant training may be required.
