Manages a unit within a department. Plans, organizes and develops goals and procedures for the unit. Represents the unit to administrators, outside agencies and others on relevant matters. Supervises subordinate staff.
The Manager of Conference Services, as an educator, serves to provide quality conferences and customer service to internal and external clients.
The responsibilities for the Manager of Conference Services are to coordinate the negotiations, logistics, and contracting of conference clients; billing, budgeting, and database management; and assisting conference clients in coordinating their conference.
Participates in the recruitment, selection and training of student staff as well as the placement of professional staff and student staff for the conference season, and outreach contact concerning orientation and prospective student initiatives.
Provides leadership and direct supervision to the Residence Life Coordinators, Graduate Assistants and ACUHO -I interns during the summer months, while providing indirect supervision during the academic year and is a vital member of the Residence Life Staff.
Is expected to work with the Assistant Directors for Residence Life, the Assistant Director for Environmental Management and Retention, the Senior Associate Managing Director for University Student Housing, and other departmental staff in the development, implementation, and management of conference services and outreach for the entire Residence Life operation.
Strong communication, customer service and event planning skills are vital for success in this position.
The Manager of Conference Services will support the department’s efforts in social media and other emerging social media technologies which may be beneficial to University Student Housing.
Participates in the on-call rotation for the campus residential system.
Bachelor’s degree plus three years supervisory experience; OR a combination of education and/or supervisory experience to equal seven years.
