POSITION SUMMARY: The Unit Secretary under the supervision of the Clinical Manager
and Director performs/supervises services in a designated area according to the policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the department and hospital. Works cooperatively within department and other services to create a system of quality health care.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Under direction of Director/designee performs a variety of tasks indirectly related to patient care. Maintains a clean environment, keeps equipment clean and in good working order. Works with Director/designee in creating/maintaining adequate supply par levels on unit.
A. Priority of duties to be decided in conjunction with Clinical Manager or charge nurse. Supports the clerical needs dept.
B. Maintains an orderly office environment, establishes and maintains any needed filing system for the Clinical Manager.
C. Completes admission, transfer, discharge, pre-operative, post-operative, and other patient records.
D. Maintains patient charts including filing and recording of patient data in the chart.
E. P repares and updates daily schedules and notices of patients, procedure and diets.
F. Reports all equipment problems to the Director/designee and Biomed.
G. Requisitions supplies and services from various hospital departments as required.
H. Carries out special projects and keeps statistical data as required by the Clinical Manager.
E. Screens all persons requesting access to the department for appropriateness of entry. Enforces department security policies. Notifies Clinical Manager of any suspicious behavior/requests for access.
