The Unit Secretary acts as a receptionist, greeting and directing visitors and staff, answering telephones, and relaying messages. S/he will accurately transcribe medical orders onto the appropriate forms, prepares test requisitions, arranges and coordinates diagnostic and therapy appointments, and transmits information regarding the scheduling to personnel responsible for the care of the patient. S/he assembles, posts/files information within, and periodically checks the medical record to assure that it is current, complete, in proper order, and that all chart forms include the proper patient identifying information and required signatures. S/he orders supplies, follows designated procedures, and performs various clerical functions on a nursing unit to assist the nurses, physicians, and other members of the health care team, working under the direction of the Nurse Manager, Assistant Clinical Nurse Manager, and/or Administrative Coordinator. Performs other related duties as required.

Hours: PART TIME 20 hours per week. 3pm - 7pm shifts and every other weekend 7am-3pm or 3pm -11pm. Shift,weekend,holiday rotation.
Pediatrics and Float Pool assignments
Education : High School Graduate or its equivalent required, Business course preferred.
Experience : Previous work experience in a health care environment preferred.
Special Qualifications: Knowledge of medical terminology and successful completion of MHRI abbreviation test required. Abbreviation study guide can be found at http://www.mhri.org/ss_files/downloads/abbreviation_review.pdf.
