Basic Skills

Basic Attributes

Problem Sensitivity – The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to

Actively assist with established emergency procedures at venues that are

assigned

Assist patrons with disability related issues

Ability to provide accurate knowledge to patrons regarding venue logistics (i.e.

location of ticket office, restroom, phones, concessions, press areas, etc.), information about the event, general building history, etc.

Ability to read event ticket (visual acuity corrected to read as small as 11 point print).

Ability to operate a ticket scanner to process 1,000 ticket holders per hour

Ability to repeatedly climb stairs – up and down – and be comfortable working on all levels – to ensure effective event operations in all areas of parking lot and stadium settings

Ability to bend and reach around patrons during gate searches

Ability to stand for long periods, sometimes throughout entire event

Work all assigned shifts and arrive at posted report time

Adhere to all uniform requirements

Attend all required trainings and meetings

Ability to work all of the University of Iowa Home Football games

Mandatory Prerequisites

Experience, Work History, and Education :
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older as required by applicable law or contractual requirements.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a stable work history with at least one verifiable positive work reference.
  • Have evidence of obtaining a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Must successfully pass an extensive background screening which will include criminal record checks (local, state and federal), drug test, skills assessment test, interviews, and personality profile.
  • Negative result on pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must have no criminal convictions as specified under Whelan Security guidelines.
  • Successful completion of Whelan’s Pre-Employment Assessment of Knowledge (PEAK).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
