The C5I Business Unit provides turn-key solutions and Integrated Life Cycle services in system engineering, enterprise architecture, business process engineering, networks, telecommunications and IT and space system engineering, integration, installation and operations and maintenance for a diverse group of government and commercial customers worldwide. The C5I unit has over 400 employees and some of our key customers include the US Air Force Space Command, US Strategic Command, North American Aerospace Defense Command, US Northern Command, Pentagon, Department of Energy, State Department, Department of Homeland Security, and other Department of Defense, Federal and State agencies and commercial customers.
The Senior UNIX Systems Engineer will work with a team to design new solutions that meet customer requirements and release solutions into production for support within an operations team. The Engineer will leverage industry best practices and the latest technologies to design and document solutions for mission critical web applications, databases, and enterprise systems. The engineer will also update project schedules and attend meetings with team members and clients to report status and issues.
Required Skills and Experience:
-Master’s degree and 10 years of experience, or an equivalent of 16 years of related experience in information technology
-8+ years as a UNIX systems engineer or administrator
-4+ years engineering systems with Solaris versions 8 and higher.
-Experience performing in depth tuning of operating system parameters on Solaris on a Sparc platform.
-3+ years of experience administering servers with Fibre Channel attached storage arrays and tape libraries.
-The selected Engineer will also have experience documenting designs and updating project schedules.
-3+ years of experience with Veritas Volume Manager, Veritas Filesystem, Veritas Cluster server, Sun Cluster server and/or Sun Volume Manager.
-Confident in at least 1 programming language (perl, python, advanced shell, java, c, etc.)
-Experience with ldap, nis, or nis+, as well as Sendmail, Apache, and iPlanet required.
-Advanced troubleshooting skills are a must. Experience with Nagios, Cfengine, Bea Weblogic, Solaris Jumpstart, Solaris 10 zones, Syncsort Backup Express, Sybase Database, and Oracle Databases desired.
