Acentia is seeking a UNIX Storage Administrator to join our team.

The UNIX Storage Administrator will manage and maintain UNIX and Linux servers hosting a variety of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS), internally developed application software, and databases.

It is the responsibility of this team to provide reliable, secure, state-of-art IT services in the area of Systems Administration, including overall support for current and new functions involving enterprise UNIX/Linux standards, enterprise UNIX/Linux servers, legacy UNIX servers and related activities.

Current operational information:
Operating Systems: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.x/5.x/6.x, CentOS 5.x/6.x

Automated Installation: Spacewalk (or Red Hat Satellite) - Kickstart

Patch Management : Spacewalk

System Configuration Management and Automation: Puppet

System Firewalls: Linux IP tables/Shorewall

Intrusion Detection Systems: Tripwire Enterprise

Storage: SAN and NAS – NFS Server and Client – Fiber Switch Configuration – LUN Masking – Zoning – Snapshots

Monitoring: Nagios, Splunk

Log Management: Syslog/Syslog-ng/Splunk

Scripting Languages: sh/bash/ksh

Network Services: SSH/SCP/SFTP – HTTP – RSYNC – DNS – FTP – NFS

Backup & Recovery: NetBackup 6.5.x and 7.x

The Storage and Backup Administration Team manages and maintains Storage and Backup hardware and software at the Denver Federal Center and across the Regions. It is the responsibility of this team to provide reliable, secure, state-of-art IT services in the area of Storage and Backup Administration, including overall support for current and new functions involving enterprise data management standards and related activities.

Management & Administrative responsibilities:
Coordinates interaction across all channels in “real time”

Provides administrative management support and coordination for weekly, monthly, and other periodic reporting and documentation requirements

In depth customer management to acquire and retain customers and increases customer satisfaction

Capable of evaluating and assessing if time already spent with customer is sufficient to prioritize the work with current team assignments

Project team and project management experience for workload balancing and coordination of team and project activities.

Storage Administration - Current operational environment:
Storage Arrays : Dell Compellent, Sun StorageTEK

Architecture in Denver : One Compellent Series 40 array - Two StorageTEK 2540 arrays - One StorageTEK 6140 array - One StorageTEK 6180 array

Architecture in Sacramento : One Compellent Series 40 array

Replication : Compellent array in Denver replicates specified production LUNs to the Sacramento Compellent array

Connection Technologies: Fiber Channel, iSCSI and NAS

Backups Devices - Current operational environment

Backup Devices : Quantum and Sun

Architecture : One Quantum Dxi5500, Two Quantum Dxi6500, One Quantum Dxi7500, Sun L180

Replication : One Quantum Dxi6500 will replicate all backed up data to the other Quantum Dxi6500 in Sacramento for Disaster Recovery

Connection Technology : Fiber Channel

Required Skills

Minimum Experience:
6 Years experience with Linux System Administration, Red Hat preferred

2 years experience with UNIX/Linux shell scripting: bash, sh, ksh or equivalent from an automation and monitoring standpoint

Recent experience in an enterprise production support environment

Experience with automated and unassisted Operating System Installations using Kickstart

Experience with centralized system configuration management and automation systems in a production environment, Puppet preferred

Experience configuring and troubleshooting host-based firewalls, IPtables or Shorewall preferred

Experience with Intrusion Detection Systems (e.g. Tripwire)

Experience in high - availability environments (e.g. LVS/Heartbeat, ldirectord, HAproxy)

Experience with centralized log management, Syslog-ng/Splunk preferred

Experience with monitoring and process management systems (e.g. Nagios, Ganglia)

Ability to identify existing tools to support everyday tasks and perform troubleshooting

Experience with Backup solutions such as Netbackup and as well as SAN and NAS Storage (Compellent, Oracle/Sun/StorageTEK, Equallogic) technologies

Knowledge of the following technologies: LDAP, NFS, NTP, FTP, DNS, Sendmail or Postfix, Kickstart/Cobbler, DHCP, Yum, Git or Subversion, Puppet, LVM, Clustering, server virtualization, VMware preferred

Knowledge of Apache, Tomcat, JBoss administration experience is a plus

Experience with the following technologies:
Storage management and administration, provisioning and replication

Enterprise Fiber channel and Ethernet storage networks (SAN)

Networking and storage protocol standards: SCSI, FC, FCoE, Zoning, ISL, NPIV, LUN Masking/Presentation, Storage Virtualization

Storage in highly virtualized VMware environments

Must have working experience with large scale storage systems, Dell Compellent experience preferred

Brocade SAN fabric environment with storage provisioning skills, including disk assignment, fabric zoning and LUN masking

Working experience with storage principles in low latency / high performance environments

VMware/Linux/Windows operating systems

Knowledge of TCP/IP networking DNS, LDAP, NFS, SMTP, Account Management

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline (Preferred)

Clearance:
Must be able to pass a MBI (Minimum Background Investigation)

Credit Check required
