In this position, you are responsible for building, managing, mentoring, and coordinating TechSmith’s User Experience team.
Responsible for building and growing Techsmith’s user experience and research disciplines
Manages a team of user experience designers and researchers
Works with other development managers, development directors, project managers, developers, & QA in setting strategy and resource allocation
Works regularly with all functions of the organization in order to improve orientation and onboarding
Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, and assisting in the selection of new team candidates
Facilitates understanding of individual, project, team, and company goals and responsibilities
Coaches/mentors direct reports and provides regular feedback on performance
Identifies training requirements and manages staffing for projects
Ensures standards, procedures, and methodologies in the development life cycle are working productively to meet the teams objectives in coordination with the project manager
Organizes and efficiently facilitates team communications
Learns and stays current on the latest changes in how to effectively manage software development teams and user experience methodologies
Required Skills and Background:
Bachelor's degree (Masters preferred) in one or more of these disciplines: Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, or other related field
At least eight years industry experience designing complex web or desktop applications
At least three years managing a team of designers and usability experts
Experience with user-centered design and usability practices
Excellent organizational and management skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language
Self-motivated and thrives in a team environment

Preferred Skills and Background:
Experience with a variety of agile software development methodologies
Proven leadership skills in an agile software development environment
Experience managing or building enterprise applications or desktop solutions is a big plus
