We are building an in-house team of user experience researchers who will work in close partnership with product managers, designers, and engineers to create products that our users love. Our goal is for Ask product teams to have weekly access to direct consumer interactions and to use this feedback to shape products and services that deliver real value to our users.
We are creating a dynamic team that has fun working with our product groups, user design teams, marketing teams and bring that excitement to the people we interview and survey. We’re a new team with a lot of new initiatives some come prepared to work hard and have fun!
The User Researcher has a unique opportunity to shape the future of consumer-focused product development at Ask.com.
You are passionate about user insights; curious and inquisitive; able to understand how technical considerations translate into research scenarios and a skilled moderator/interviewer. We need strong client-orientation for working with internal customers, driven, accountable, a self-starter and comfortable working in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment. Support User Research Team Lead in the development of protocols for recruiting, screening, and interviewing research participants as Ask transitions from an agency-led research model to an in-house team.
Work closely with product owners, designers and engineers to develop a deep understanding of Ask.com products and the way in which we bring ideas to market. Identify knowledge gaps about how consumers think about and use Ask.com products, ensuring that research discussion guides, task lists and interviewing/moderation are designed to elicit insightful and actionable feedback.
Work with internal clients to select the most appropriate tools, techniques, and approaches for a given initiative.
Develop a deep understanding of current and potential Ask.com users; advocate for a great user experience across all supported products and services.
Provide feedback on prototypes, mocks, or other work in progress based on knowledge of cognitive factors, guiding internal clients toward the development of “researchable” stimuli.
Provide direction to the User Research Coordinator for the scheduling and selection of research participants. Arrange necessary resources to ensure a smooth experience for testers and internal clients.
Conduct ongoing user feedback sessions in partnership with internal clients and lead debrief sessions to discuss key learnings and next steps.
Support the development and maintenance of user testing panels, databases, or other resources that will enable Ask to connect with users.
2-3 years’ experience managing user research studies, preferably at a hands-on client side position or at a research agency.
Ability to elicit insightful feedback from research participants and coach internal clients on what they should do about it.
Able to work with a wide cross-functional team of colleagues, including product managers, web designers, programmers and developers.
Bachelor’s degree; Advanced degree or specialized research training a plus.
Interest in, or experience with, search and/or content publishing a plus.
