The duties of a Utility may include, but are not limited to, performing general maintenance and operations activities required for the operation and maintenance of gas gathering systems and plant processing systems and equipment; assisting mechanics in the overhaul of rotating equipment Replacing gaskets and spark plugs, dismantling, cleaning, and reassembling engines); assisting in preventive maintenance inspections; assisting welders with repairs; assisting other crafts personnel as directed; moving material and equipment as well as making repairs; operates radio/telephone communications, performing lab tests for quality checks, operating air compressors, using jackhammers, drills, impact wrenches, picks, shovels, bars, pipe tongs, grinders and various hand tools; performing miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
May be required to train to become qualified to work relief for other classifications. May at some point also be required to learn Plant Operator Relief duties.
This position may be initially staffed at the Utility I, II, or III level, depending on qualifications and experience.
Frequent Overtime; Weekend Work; Testing Required. Primary testing will be in respect to DOT OQ qualifications and basic operations knowledge modules and any job-specific task training. Subject to outdoor weather conditions, must be able to respond to emergency alarms, work around rotating equipment and high and low pressure gas lines, work in areas where hearing and skin protection is required, respond to call-outs at night and on weekends. Must be able to react to visual, signals, alarms and instruction and is required to visually inspect his/her work. May drive vehicle from site to site over rough roads.
Uses physical force to lift, push, pull, and hold equipment and tools. Climbs (vertical attached ladders) and works at various heights. May work in a standing, sitting, lying down, crouched or kneeling position. At times needs to work below grade. Walks from site to site, raises/lifts up to 50 lbs from ground level, and manually transports up to 75 lbs.; at times needs to crawl into and work in confined spaces (manways). Applies up to 100 foot lbs. of torque pushing and pulling valves, etc.
Must live in or be willing to relocate to within 30 miles of reporting location.
Must have a reliable means of contact for call-out purposes.
Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
Must be able to perform essential functions of position.
Minimum High School Degree or equivalent.
Basic computer skills.
Prior experience in the oil and gas industry.
Be able to assume responsibility and perform duties in a safe manner under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions.
Be open to learning, have a history of being able to work as part of a team, take pride in a job well done, enjoy working hard.
Dependable and reliable.
Ability to use hand tools, power tools.
