Candidates must be reachable for appointment on the current Civil Service eligible list for the title;
Be a permanent New York State employee eligible for lateral transfer; or in a comparable title and eligible for Section 70.1 transfer.
Candidates must be a qualified employee of the New York State Office of Mental Health or the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities in a professional nursing position allocated to Grade 15 or higher that requires a license and current New York State registration as a Registered Nurse or a Licensed Master Social Worker 1 position, a Social Worker 1 position, a Social Work Assistant 3 position and have a bachelor's degree or higher in a human services field*.
*For the purposes of this examination, a degree in a human services field includes the professional disciplines of audiology, nutrition, occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychology, social work, speech/language pathology, and therapeutic recreation (including concentrations in art, dance, drama, music, or physical education). Also included are related academic disciplines associated with the study of human behavior (e.g., gerontology, human services, sociology, speech communication); human skills development (e.g., counseling, education, human development); humans and their cultural behavior (e.g., anthropology); or any other study of services related to basic human needs (e.g., community mental health, rehabilitation counseling).
Candidates appointed provisionally must take a Civil Service examination, and their score must be reachable on the resulting eligible list before they can be permanently appointed. Candidates who do not pass the examination or achieve a reachable score may not be retained. The next Civil Service exam for Utilization Review Coordinator has not been scheduled.
The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform.
As a Utilization Review Coordinator, you would play a vital role in monitoring and identifying quality care issues for all clients admitted to a facility. Specifically, you would be responsible for determining the necessity for such admission, the necessity for continued stay, and the appropriateness of the plan of care. In addition, you would participate with other clinical staff in developing and refining quality criteria, planning for and carrying out quality assurance reviews, conducting performance improvement activities, and participating in special projects.
This position may require some travel.
