- Reporting the President and CEO, the Vice President of Human Resources (HR) will serve as a member of the executive leadership team and develops, coordinates and administers HR Policies, Practices and Programs covering all aspects of employee & labor relations as well as total rewards. The VP makes recommendations to Hospital leadership on short term and long term programs and goals for approval and implementation throughout the Hospital. In addition to the oversight of the HR function the VP has oversight for the operations of Employee Health Services, Wellness, Volunteer Services, Educational Resources, the Child Care Center and Clergy Services.
Develops, recommends, disseminates and oversees policies and procedures covering a broad range of employee relations activities; ensures that all Supervisors and Department Heads are thoroughly trained in such policies and oversees the constant and equitable administration of employee relations. Participates in discussions and planning with management and the Board of Directors on HR matters. Keeps abreast of all regulations, procedures and interpretation of Federal, State and local law as it relates to labor, employee relations and benefit administration. Makes recommendations to leadership for changes in compensation scales in order to maintain the Hospital's competitive position within budgetary allowances. Oversees the Hospital's general labor relations policy and preparedness to reduce the need for employees to turn to outside representation; fosters employee engagement with all levels of staff to uncover issues and concerns upon which management can act. Represents the Hospital in arbitrations and settling of labor disputes; partners with labor attorney in preparation of legal positions and research; works with attorney and management in developing strategies and positions during contract negotiations; develops information for negotiations and participates directly in contract settlement. Administers the Hospital's Health & Welfare and Retirement Plans; coordinates and participates in the carrying out of the Hospital Safety Program in compliance with OSHA Rules and Regulations; assigns appropriate Human Resources staff to serve on the Hospital Safety Committee; identifies and eliminates potential safety hazards to employee health and safety.
Master's Degrees in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Psychology, Education or Business Administration required. A Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience within HR, including 7 years of senior level management experience. Must have in-depth experience in labor relations, to include negotiating collective bargaining agreements. Demonstrated experience working directly with executive management and board of directors, including an ability to identify organizational needs and confidently and convincingly present information, analysis and make recommendations on HR initiatives. SPHR and experience working within a healthcare setting preferred.
