The VDC Engineer assists and supports The Gaillard project team and obtain direction and guidance from VDC Manager and/or VDC Director on assigned project.

The position works under direct supervision of the project team, performs routine daily activities, gathers and distributes information for the MEP coordination process.

The VDC Engineer must be a flexible and adaptable team-player, as well as have strong leadership, communication and customer service skills.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

Manage and train Subcontractors in Skanska MEP coordination processes

Management of model files and versions from multiple software solutions

Manage the collaboration process between Subcontractors using Microsoft SharePoint

Manage coordination schedule to ensure on time deliverables that meet the construction schedule

Facilitate regular MEP Coordination meetings with Subcontractors and Design Team

Support Skanska Team and Subcontractors on technical aspects of VDC

Utilizes CAD/BIM software on VDC processes including, but not limited to MEP Coordination, 4D Sequencing, and Constructability Reviews.

Manage and review creation of Coordinated Fabrication drawings for MEP Subcontractors

Ensure RFI’s are captured and answered in a timely manner

Job Skills & Abilities Guidelines


Must have strong software knowledge of Navisworks Manage Clash Detective, Revit, AutoCAD and AutoCAD based MEP solutions


Administer VDC Quality Control procedures on BIM


Must have experience in field construction and/or design


Must have strong knowledge of MEP systems and installations


Strong ability to manage multiple projects at one time


Strong leadership skills and the ability to quickly gain project teams trust


Continuously reinforces collaborative team approach with VDC initiatives


Ability to manage and direct conflict resolution amongst Subcontractors


Understands operations of the company & has effective relationships


Show competency from experience


Must be able to manage team workflows to creatively meet project deadlines


Leads with little supervision


Strong written and verbal communication skills


Asses, mentor and coach project teams and personnel on the use of VDC to achieve operational excellence


Willingness and ability to travel within their local area as needed to support other Skanska projects on a regular basis


Continually defines ways to increase project team effectiveness through the use of VDC processes

**Must be located in the Charleston, SC area

Education and/or Experience

BS preferred, AS minimum required in Engineering, Architectural or related field

Must have 3-5 years of VDC/BIM related industry experience

Proven management skills

Have demonstrated successful experience working in and leading a collaborative team environment

Knowledge of the project delivery industry, with direct construction and/or design experience
