Minimum Requirement - Primary Education :
High school graduate.

Minimum Requirement - Primary Experience :
Must have one year of experience in cemetery caretaking, grounds maintenance, golf course greenskeeping, landscaping, farming or other related experience.

Education Substitution :
College courses or technical training in horticulture or a related field will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Experience Substitution :
None

Special Requirements :
Must possess a valid driver's license.

Post Employment Requirements :
Must maintain valid drive's license for the length of employment in this classification.

Description of Job Duties
Performs ground maintenance duties and assists in burial operations at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North.

Selection Method :
Qualifying: All candidates who apply and meet the minimum requirements are eligible for placement on the register for hiring consideration.

Characteristics of the Class :
At the beginning level, performs duties associated with upkeep and maintenance of a state veteran’s cemetery including facility, grounds, and equipment maintenance, assisting with burial operations and preparations involving the application of basic trade practices; and performs other duties as required.

Typical Working Conditions and Unique Physical Requirements :
Work typically involves heavy lifting , bending and stooping. Work is performed outdoors in all types of weather. Operates power equipment and handle pesticides. Exposed to loud noises and sharp objects.

Additional Requirements :
Applicants and employees in this classification may be required to submit to a drug screening test and background check.
