About the Position:
Sexual Harassment/Assault Response Program provides awareness and prevention, training and education, victim advocacy, response, reporting and follow up for sexual harassment/assault issues. Army promotes sensitive care, advocacy, treatment, reporting options for victims of sexual harassment/assault and accountability for those who commit these crimes.

About the surrounding area:
Fort Leonard Wood, in the beautiful south central Missouri Ozarks, covers more than 61,000 acres. The fort is located in Pulaski County. Bordering the installation to the north are the towns of Waynesville and St. Robert. The post is two miles south of Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2-hour drive to the east along I-44 and Springfield, MO, is a little more than an hour drive to the west.

DUTIES:
Serves as a Victim Advocate (SHARP) providing professional and comprehensive advocacy services to victims/survivors of sexual assualt and sexual harassment. Conducts assessments with clients to evaluate needs and risks; recognizing the need for professional intervention and refering to appropriate services. Ensures victims of sexual assault receive all needed guidance and emotional support during administrative, medical, investigative, and legal procedures, and that victims understand the processes involved and that data will be collected, reported, and maintained on cases. Accompanies victims and provides support in securing medical treatment, safe shelter, protective orders, court hearings, educational, transportation, financial services, and follow-up assistance. Provides support before, during and after trials. Conducts interactive training workshops/seminars to victims, community agencies and the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Specialized experience: To qualify, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level (GS-07). Specialized experience is defined as: Providing professional advocacy services to victims or survivors of sexual assault and sexual harassment; conducting assessments with clients to evaluate needs and risks; recognizing the need for professional intervention and referring to appropriate services; maintaining partnerships in the community, and conducting training/seminars on sexual assault/sexual harassment.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities)in the following areas:

Victim Advocacy Services
Victim Support Services
Administrative Duties

BASIC REQUIREMENT : Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

OR
Combination of education and experience -- that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

OR
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

Education : To qualify based on education in lieu of specialized experience, applicants must possess a completed master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.

Experience: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the GS-09 grade level, and may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at that grade level. (When crediting education that requires specific course work, prorate the number of hours of related courses required as a proportion of the total education to be used.)

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position requires screening against the National Sex Offenders Registry.

This position requires screening through the Crime Records Center.

This position requires screening through the Army Central Registry for a history of domestic violence.

This position requires the employee to possess a valid driver's license.

This position may require the employee to be occasionally on-call.

This position requires the employee to successfully complete an 80-hour SHARP Training Course and obtain DOD certification within 6-months of employment.

This position is Emergency Essential in support of mobilization and wartime mission.

This position requires temporary travel to other duty locations for training, conferences, etc 10% of time.

Basis for Rating : Qualified candidates will be assigned to one of three quality categories: Best Qualified, Highly Qualified and Qualified. Veteran preference eligibles are listed ahead of non-preference eligibles within each quality category.
