The VicePresident is responsible for the development and engineering support ofMedidata software products and software services.

Responsibility Overview:
Contributes to strategic technical direction for the Engineering group in line with Medidata’s overall technical direction as set by the Cloud Council, VP Development, and SVP R&D

Provide line management to engineering teams

Work with Product Management to set product direction

Determine overall technical approach

Ensure that engineering teams are working effectively and in productive co-operation with other Medidata teams involved in software delivery, such as Software Quality Assurance, Product Management and Knowledge Management

Enforce adherence to the Software Development Lifecycle by monitoring code review sessions and the production of design specifications

Ensure appropriate validation practices are followed for software releases

Qualifications :
Critical Experiences:
College/university degree preferably in computer science, information systems or life sciences or equivalent work experience

10+ years experience in a software development environment

10+ years managerial experience

Solid understanding of Agile and related SDLC methods

Experience across multiple platforms, languages and applications

Deep knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry preferred

Experience in the clinical domain (knowing how a clinical trial works; regulatory environment) peferred

3+ years experience in developing software for clinical research preferred

Experience in a SaaS environment required

Experience in metadata-driven systems preferred

Experience in Medidata systems preferred

Track record of success with Medidata systems and products, including on-time and high-quality delivery required

Ability to inspire high performance from engineering and cross-functional teams

People Leadership: Effectively executes people management processes

Problem Solving: Utilizes appropriate methods to solve problems in an accurate and efficient manner

Technical Communication: Effectively communicates technical information and processes to relevant stakeholders (e.g., cross-functional groups, clients)

Software Engineering: Effectively executes processes associated with the software development life cycle

Computer Science Knowledge: Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of relevant concepts, applications, and programming languages
