  • Role reports directly to SVP Global Customer Operations
  • Runs a Global enablement team who will matrix into the Geographic Regions & Partner organizations. Regional and corporate enablement leaders will report directly into the Vice President
  • Responsible to enable VMware Field and Partners to successfully sell and deliver VMware solutions aligned to the overall company strategy via knowledge, skills, and tools
  • Partner in driving a Global Sales Transformation and building out world class field sales and partner eco-system
  • Accountable for Field and Partner Competencies, Field Sales and Technical Enablement, New Hire On-Boarding, Sales Management Enablement, Account Planning Development, In-role Curriculum, Deal Coaching, Sales Process and Methodology Development and Training and Competitive Intelligence
  • Key integration points: Corporate and Regional Strategy Teams, Regional Leadership, Product Business Units, Education Team, Global Channel & Alliances Team and Human Resources
Development of the VMware Enablement Vision & Execution plans in context of our sales transformation & M&A activity as we build toward a $10B corporate revenue goal.

  • High growth company with ~5000 Field employees and a vast transforming partner ecosystem
  • Reflective of Geo Differences – particularly those of developed versus emerging markets
  • Knowledge and experience of enabling and integrating Mergers and Acquisitions
Transformation from Geo to Globally run Enablement Model

  • Restructuring current Geo/Corporate Enablement Organizations into a single aligned global organization with strong & effective matrix management into the Geographic Regions & Global Channels & Alliances Organization
  • Alignment of Product BU activities into the globally standard model
  • Development of Shared Services Organization supporting direct & partner enablement needs
  • Delivery of a 3 year enablement plan that aligns to the corporate strategy
Execution of Learning Experiences and Events

  • Large event planning & execution for events like “Rainmaker Academy – 2000 people in 8+locations and VMware’s World Wide Kick Off meeting with 4500 attendees
  • Ongoing execution of programs such as (1) START & Propel – on-boarding programs that run in region bringing on over 100 new field employees a month (2) LiveFire bootcamp trainings for our technical field
  • VMware’s Partner Exchange Event – 2500 Partners in attendance
  • Development & execution of our virtual lab programs
  • Effective leverage and management of 3rd party support
Support & Development of Enablement Infrastructure

  • Learning Management System & Field Learning Portal (Field Academy)
  • Curriculums & Learning Paths Development
  • Competency Assessments & Action Plans Execution
Functional Experience:
BS/BA Required. Masters or MBA degree preferred. Minimum of 10-15 years of learning/development experience with Global organizations. Desired knowledge and capability areas include:

Content Areas - Knowledge:
  • Sales and M&A knowledg and comprehension of how the field functions (field sales reps, ISRs, Partner Business Managers, etc)
  • Knowledge & experience in driving enablement of newly acquired companies
  • Transformation & Readiness Planning: Ability to create and drive the transformation
  • Readiness Infrastructure…Ability to design and build a robust enablement infrastructure (curriculums, governance models, etc) that will be able to scale the business as it grows – broadening the skill sets, decreasing time to full productivity at different levels, and supporting people as they evolve in their careers
  • Training Development… Ability to drive creative and effective training from pre to post event activities. Developed portfolio of skills and options available with creativity to put them into practice in an efficient and effective way

  • 3rd Party Vendor Management….Establish of a key set of portfolio providers, structuring of engagements, management of SOWs, etc
