Manage IT project portfolio of assets for delivery success (financially, schedule, scope and quality) and strive to improve the performance of the portfolio by balancing risk and return.
Help the organization to mature from an ‘initial’ to a mature and synchronized portfolio management model by to aligning IT commitments and resources with business strategies, targeted capability and value metrics.
Facilitate the clear, concise, timely and transparent reporting of the project portfolio’s health for the Engineering (IT) as well as the Business and stakeholder audiences by depicting progress of KPIs for delivery, quality and adoption.
Evolve metrics to for consistent scoring to convey, communicate and measure a project’s value through its life cycle as well as the entire portfolio of initiatives.
Provide proactive and collaborative monitoring of delivery progress and the risks associated with each project (delays, cost overruns, strategic misalignment, resource constraints, scope changes, end-user acceptance) along with the aggregate insights, risks and impacts portfolio
Establish and implement IT value model(s) to prioritize and rationalize projects investments being quarterly, rolling or annually
Enhance existing portfolio change/new request process to include: return on investments/value measurement assessments, prioritized rolling demand balanced with Engineering and Business Capacity
Establish metrics for monitoring Demand Management processes success with turn times, impacts assessments, efficiency gains and estimation accuracy
Obtain and incorporate feedback from Business, BTS Strategy, BTS Engineering, Corporate strategy, Enterprise Architecture and other stakeholders to ensure process maturation
Essential Functions :
Measuring and report across BTS organization progress towards portfolio delivery KPI’s. Including: Monitoring and Communicate delivery dates, budgets/actuals and successful delivery scope, quality and adoption 40%
Ensure BTS’s resources are committed to LPL’s strategic priorities by efficiently assessing value, ‘costs’ and capability to deliver to decision requests with minimal impact to existing commitments 20%
Establish streamlined, cost-effective, repeatable methodologies, processes to reduce complexity, overhead and risk with delivering commitments 20%
Guide, motivate, challenge and grow team members 20%
Responsibilities:The VP of Portfolio and Demand Management is responsible for:
Lead weekly portfolio status and executive insights meetings with project leaders, various technology executives, including CIO.
Elicit risks and potential road blocks from project managers and responsible people; proactively convey portfolio impacts to executives; Deliver portfolio progress and insights reports
Manage the Demand and portfolio prioritization process to ensure LPL investments provide value and can be delivered as committed
Collaborate with a positive can-do attitude with all levels of the organization to proactively high-light risks, manage, monitor and resolves project issues and conflicts
Collaborate with Product and Business to prioritize portfolio, capture Business needs, benefits and value
Leads by continually: adding value not overhead, encouraging accountability and delivery, promoting collaboration and accuracy
Innovate by: not being afraid of change, generating ideas, continuously experimenting, creating and evaluating existing processes, tools, relationships to continue to add value
10+ years of experience managing IT programs, product and entire IT department portfolios
Enterprise IT Portfolio management experience with budgets >65M
Polished reporting to various levels of the organization using various tools and approaches e.g. C level decision decks, to procedure manuals to training presentation, prioritize and meet deadlines
Financial services experience preferred
Strong project management skills, including the ability to communicate to various levels of the organization using various tools and approaches e.g. C level decision decks, to procedure manuals to training presentation, prioritize and meet deadlines
Strong planning, organizational and leadership skills
Business Systems Analyst or Business Analyst 3-5 years
Strong verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in MS Excel, MS Power Point and Word
Ability to navigate a highly matrixed organization effectively
Strong meeting facilitation and presentation skills
Strong business judgment, problem solving and negotiating skills
Positive attitude, high energy and ability to work in a team environment, motivate and excite team members and influence behavior of others
IT demand management and capacity planning/prioritization experience
Experience delivering within multiple Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies. At a minimum, managed projects using waterfall, and rapid methodologies. In depth knowledge of requirements solicitation, application development, testing phases, dating and establishing measurements and success criteria for each phase
