The VP, Product Management, Networks & Traders is a senior role that will have full responsibility for managing and growing AppNexus’ large licensed enterprise software business for ad networks and traders. This business consists of traditional ad networks, SSPs, buy-side traders, DSPs, and other types of intermediaries in the display advertising market.

This role will include determining the company’s strategy for this broad customer segment, setting product direction, leading execution, managing a P&L, and bringing all of AppNexus’ assets together to manage and grow an already large and successful network and trader business. The VP will manage a strong group of product managers building the offerings, and will lead and influence a large swath of the AppNexus organization across sales, services, marketing, commercialization, other product groups, and engineering.

The ideal candidate will have deep experience working at, or with, display advertising intermediaries such as ad networks and traders. This knowledge will be critical to understand the varied business models and intricacies of AppNexus customers and turn that into delivering the right solutions.

Strong experience with ad serving, ad exchanges, optimization, pricing, service models, and enterprise software is also required. The ideal candidate will understand the major players in the ad technology industry, discover new market opportunities, and work closely across functions to design and enhance products and offerings. Candidate must have the influence and organizational skills to get things done at a fast-growth global company. She will be detail-oriented and have the technical skills and experience to understand a complex product.

This role is extremely dynamic and this leader must balance product execution, interaction with internal and external customers, and strategy creation. The ideal candidate will have the confidence and intellectual honesty to pivot and make hard strategic choices, and the intelligence to think about the complex interactions and consequences of these choices across functions, initiatives, channels, and markets.

Responsibilities for this position include:
Setting strategic direction

Responsibility for the P&L for the networks and traders business

Create and update a strong living business plan for the business

Participating in important sales efforts and working tightly with sales leaders

Engaging with top customers to understand their needs (not wants)

Defining product roadmap and setting prioritization

Inspiring, coaching, leading, and managing a team of product managers

Ability to hire and recruit world-class talent

Being an industry thought-leader and representing AppNexus externally

Partnering closely with the engineering organization

Working closely with product leaders on cross-functional initiatives (ex: mobile)

Setting go-to-market strategy for alpha/beta/commercialization and partnering with commercialization and marketing teams to achieve goals

Part of the AppNexus executive team, participating in strategy and operational discussions

Aligning the networks and traders strategy with overall company strategy

Evaluating M&A opportunities with Build/Partner/Buy analysis

Sourcing and analyzing market research and competitive analysis

Operating the business globally across numerous different regional markets

Requirements:
3+ years in ad technology

3+ years in a strong role at a display advertising network or trader

Significant experience building teams

Significant experience building ad technology or operating ad tech businesses

BS in technical field is a plus

MBA is a plus
