Scope & Responsibility
Responsible
for leadership and all aspects of software development and bioinformatics
functions focused on the development of the software ecosystem for our
sequencing and array products. Contributes to the long term planning and
strategic development for the function and the business. Proactively
coordinates software and bioinformatics
activities within the department and collaboratively throughout all of the
relevant Illumina functional groups. Leads and supports the scientific and
technical activities of a group of >150 professionals responsible for
significant portions of Illumina’s software, bioinformatics, and cloud-based
solutions.

Lead
the global centralized software and informatics product development
organization currently comprised of >150 professionals
Formulate
long-range operating plans, budgets and programs to support company
objectives Oversee estimation and execution of project work plans. Direct
revisions as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
Coordinate
and manage standards and governance for all software development activities
within Illumina.
Develops
strategies to ensure effective achievement of product development activities and
goals.
Minimize
schedule and technical risk by foreseeing and addressing obstacles
proactively and aggressively. Leverage past
experience and strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with
business clients. · Coach
team managers, establishing and coordinating responsibilities and
accountabilities. ·Appropriately
allocate resources to achieve goals.
Through
multiple department managers, monitors and evaluates completion of large scale
and mission critical projects
Investigates new
methodologies, technologies and experimentation. Provide

Requirements & Experience

MS/PhD
in computer science, Bioinformatics, statistics, or related mathematics or
scientific field.

20+
yrs software and informatics product development experience in a complex
systems environment (life sciences preferred/a plus)
VP
level leader who has led centralized software and informatics product
development organizations in a high growth environment such as 1.5B to 3B plus
revenue
10+
yrs in a sr leadership role managing global teams and directors who are
geographically dispersed with
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Vice President role or equivalent preferred
  • Must
have a proven track record of building, developing, training and directly
managing senior directors and directors and the team.
Demonstrated
