We are currently seeking a Vice President of Finance to help grow our company from our corporate office in Southern California. Successful candidate will be an expert negotiator and have a background in banking or accounting. A CPA is preferred. Qualified candidates will possess effective communication skills, strong customer service skills, problem-solving and multi-tasking abilities. We are looking for a team-oriented professional who will continue our market growth through acquisitions and fiscal acuity. Retail Apparel experience is helpful, but not required.

Overview:
The VP of Finance will have the highest responsibility and leadership for corporate financial health and direction. He or she will provide overall financial vision and leadership with the owner/CEO in coordination with all departments. The VP's work will involve the highest level of oversight and direction of accounting, financial reporting, tax-related reporting and forecasting activities of a company with over 250 retail locations nationwide.

Responsibilities:

Finance:
  • Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds as needed
  • Oversee cash, investment and asset management
  • Oversee financing strategies and activities, as well as banking relationships
  • Develop and utilize forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization s operations, business plans and acquisition/expansion plans

Planning, Policy and Owner Relations:
  • Provide financial vision and leadership for all company divisions
  • If necessary, implement the coordination, development and monitoring of budgets
  • If necessary, develop financial business plans and forecasts
  • Participate in company policy and procedure development as a member of the senior management team
  • Represent the company to financial institutions, investors and auditors
  • Remain up to date on accounting and finance best practices and state and federal law regarding operations

Accounting and Administration:
  • Effectively lead and motivate the accounting team for prompt, accurate performance, as well as dedication to the mission of the organization
  • Oversee the Controller in ensuring procedures and computer application systems maintain proper records and afford adequate accounting controls and services
  • Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures to include financial statement consolidation for multiple locations and legal entities
  • Establish and maintain the process for accurate analysis and consolidation of cost allocation procedures for multiple legal entities
  • Ensure timeliness, accuracy and usefulness of financial and management reporting for owner
  • Oversee the preparation and communication of regular and annual financial statements
  • Manage the coordination of audits and reviews as required
  • Work with third-party CPA on the proper filing of tax returns
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions
  • Supervise and direct all financial and pertinent statistical reporting
  • Review the accounting job descriptions and processes and implement changes when necessary
  • Review accounting software requirements and integrations with other systems for enhancements to promote efficiency, accuracy, flexibility and customer service
Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required. A CPA or MBA is preferred
  • 10+ years of finance/accounting experience and a career path of upward mobility
  • Experience in a multi-unit, multi-state retail environment is mandatory
  • Proven track record of driving positive results in high-growth, hands-on environments
  • History of impressive leadership roles at public companies
  • Experience with and solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting, plus Sarbanes-Oxley internal controls and certification
  • Proven talent for working cross-functionally, across several locations, and with senior management and boards of directors
