Maintains, develops, and improves relationships and communications between the organization and its shareholders, the investing public, and other members of the financial community, including financial analysts and institutional investors, to increase the value and marketability of the organizations stock.

This role serves as the face of WellPoint to the investment community.

Key Responsibilities include:
·

Develops and executes the corporate Investor Relations program that accurately reflects the company.

·

Leads the IR effort to find, support, and encourage prospective investors by broadening awareness and interest through conferences, presentations, meetings, and media.

Identifies and responds to opportunities created through such interactions.

·

Leads the collection, analysis, and presentation of feedback to the company of investors’ perceptions and opinions, brokerage security analysts’ positions and summaries, relative stock price movements, and periodic ownership analysis. Provides/presents analysis to senior management and the Board of Directors.

Provides competitive investment intelligence to management.

·

Prepares updates for board of directors and senior management.

·

Responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing close working relationships with institutions in the financial community that hold, may hold, or may issue analyst reports on the organization’s stock.

·

Speaks on behalf of the company at investment presentations, institutions, individual meetings and discussions, and with media.

Serves as the face of the company to the investment community.

·

Maintains and improves relationships and communications between the organization and the investing public, shareholders, and financial professionals to enhance the standing of the organization’s stock.

·

Monitors and assesses changes and trends in the investment markets and determines the appropriate strategy.

·

Serves as the primary point of contact for external contacts from both sell-side and buy-side investors. Primary external relationships include institutional investors and security analysts. Provides appropriate communication with the investment community regarding the organization.

·

Responsible for an annual investor day.

·

Facilitates quarterly earnings call and press release.

·

Responsible for preparing Senior Leaders for their interactions with the investment community.

Qualifications

·

More than 10 years experience in investor relations or finance positions for a public company, consulting agency, or brokerage firm.

·

College degree required, master’s degree preferred.

·

Exceptional financial and investment analysis skills, preferably from experience as security analyst for the healthcare sector.

·

A clear and thorough understanding of the financial modeling techniques used by security analysts to project a company’s operating and financial performance and resulting stock value.

·

Known and respected presence and reputation in the investment community based on credibility, depth and breadth of knowledge.

·

Deep understanding of the health insurance industry, especially from a strategic and investment perspective.

·

Stellar ability to build relationships within the investment community and to articulate the corporate strategy and key messages.

·

Strong leadership and executive presence.

·

Strong interpersonal skills, superior intellect, and an outstanding ability to communicate using these qualities and skills with charisma.

  • Significant travel to the Indianapolis area.
