Overview:
The VP, Merchandise Marketing is the strategic planning partner with the GMM. As a team they will architect a marketing strategy to drive sales. This individual manages the relationship between the Merchant and Advertising organizations while applying critical analysis of sales results, calendar and event timing issues, competitive factors and market strengths and weaknesses to the season planning processes. This individual manages a team of Merchandise Marketing Directors, Managers, and Assistant Managers.

Key Accountabilities

Partner with the GMM to develop a marketing strategy to drive sales

Create seasonal marketing strategies with GMM and merchant teams to drive sales

Present marketing strategies to all levels of the organization including Senior Management

Collaborate with the Fashion Office and Creative Teams to develop actionable and insightful advertising recommendations for new product launches, gift giving assortments, "hot" businesses and key promotional events. Develop innovative proposals and deliver strategic marketing presentations

Plan and forecast seasonal advertising budgets and edit as needed. Maximize net advertising expense by securing vendor co-op in payment for approved advertising media. Grow co-op dollars annually to increase the marketing budget to grow sales. Develop multi-media strategies for presentations to vendor community

Utilize and summarize marketing effectiveness results to the merchants to appropriately drive future advertising decisions; involves high level of analytical skills. Evaluate media mix for each FOB utilizing marketing effectiveness along with market specific data in order to maximize media exposure and ROI in all markets

Develop relationships with the market and present marketing strategies to drive sales and raise additional coop funds

Manage the relationship between Merchant and Advertising organizations

Work with Merchandising and Planning teams to align marketing and merchandising priorities, and ensure the availability of promoted items

Initiate and develop relationships with other Marketing units, Fashion office Support Teams, Events, Visual, and Stores teams, to create a holistic integrated marketing strategy

Collaborate on cross functional team Marketing Managers, Merchants, and Planners

Prepare for and participate in concept meetings, and be responsible for meeting key project deadlines (style outs, turn ins, etc.)

Manage a team of Merchandise Marketing Directors and My Macy’s Marketing Directors

Manage staff of Marketing Directors, Manager, and Assistant Manager levels

Ensure integration of priorities for both family of business and geography

Skills Summary:
10 years of prior retail buying/planning experience; prior management experience preferred.

Prior marketing experience preferred- Direct Marketing, Marketing, Effectiveness, Branding and Product Knowledge.

Multiple functions & business interactions

Experience handling multiple channels, plans, or vehicles

Strong communication skills – written and verbal

Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

Proven analytical and forecasting skills

Prior budgeting/forecasting and planning experience

Demonstrates creativity

Able to build partnerships and teams across functional units

Problem solver with analytical reasoning skills and ability to identify emerging opportunities

Ability to interact with all levels in the organization

Ability to build and foster good relationships

Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
