Phase 3 Recruiting is seeking a Vice President of Engineering in Emeryville, CA to lead a high caliber team delivering the next generation of SAAS based social media platforms and applications. We are seeking someone who has strong technical, project and people skills with a can-do mentality and a focus on delivering high quality software. What You'll Do

Lead the software engineering organization and drive the successful delivery of platforms and products while contributing to the product strategy, platform, and roadmap.

Responsibilities

Set the technical direction for the team, drive the evolution of the systems architecture, and make appropriate technology choices.

Lead, mentor, and support a highly effective team of 30 passionate engineers.

Recruit a world class engineering team and manage the recruiting process including attracting, screening, and closing high caliber candidates.

Collaborate with other executives to execute on overall company strategy.

Manage the delivery of enterprise software using AGILE best practices including continuous deployment, continuous integration, test driven development and XP.

Take a hands-on approach to the entire software development life-cycle: perform day-to-day project management to ensure successful, on-time releases; demonstrate ownership and accountability for the entire product delivery process.

Work effectively with product managers, engineers, and the senior management team to allocate engineering resources appropriately across various projects, including balancing customer/prospect needs with longer term product roadmap needs.

Implement processes and metrics to insure that the engineering organization is extremely efficient and focused, and that the product is market ready.

Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, speed, innovation and excellence while continuously elevating the quality and caliber of our product development organization.

Create a productive work environment, and keep the team focused and fulfilled.

Requirements

In order to be successful in this role, we are looking for someone with:

10+ years of software development experience building ASP, enterprise SAAS or consumer web platforms supporting millions of users and billions of online transactions per month.

Demonstrated experience leading the design, development, delivery and maintenance of large scale and high performance platforms, including online web and data/analytics processing.

At least 5+ years of experience running engineering teams using AGILE methodologies.

Proven experience as a technology leader and the ability run a mid-sized engineering team.

Demonstrated track record of successfully hiring, motivating and retaining talented developers.

Knowledge of release management and deployment workflow processes, from development release through staging and production deployment.

Strong interpersonal skills. Proven ability to build productive relationships and motivate team members. Must have a positive, can-do attitude.

Background and in-depth knowledge of social media technologies a plus.

BS / MS in Computer Science or related degree required
