Job Description: SEPATON is seeking a high energy, data-driven and creative VP of Marketing who has a track record in formulating and executing successful programs within a business to business market(enterprise marketing).

The VP will be responsible for developing and executing a global marketing strategy as this business leverages its Data Protection Appliance offering to a broader market. The overarching goal is to lead in developing a sharply differentiated, company positioning in the data protection market. This position will be responsible for bringing a focus, energy and sense of urgency in raising the profile of the company and its offerings in support of corporate financial and market goals. He/she is expected to be a creative thinker capable of interacting with world-class personnel.

The VP of Marketing will be a key member of the senior management team and will work with that group to articulate SEPATON’s positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategy as it looks to accelerate its business in the data protection space. He or she will serve as a senior spokesperson to customers, the media, industry and financial analysts to promote the company and its products as the company positions itself for its next growth phase. Specific areas of responsibility include:
  • Develop marketing strategy. Create and manage company and product messaging and positioning. Responsible for setting up and executing marketing programs for the company and team to drive leads into the business.
  • Working with Executive management, take a technology-centric business and simplify messaging, differentiate offerings in the marketplace and direct enterprise-level competitive positioning and value propositions.
  • Manage all aspects of the go-to-market plan inclusive of public and analyst relations, marketing communications, packaging, sales/channel training and related product marketing activities.
  • Model strong leadership behaviors including growing and developing a highly professional marketing staff. Be brilliant at execution, managing external agencies and building a team. Determine overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the marketing unit and implement organizational changes to align staff with shifting marketing focus.
Specific Responsibilities
Marketing

  • Lead the development, execution and maintenance of marketing strategy & planning for all of SEPATON’s products designed to increase customer acquisition and retention.
  • Enhance brand positioning and differentiation. Create and implement demand generation activities and tracking tools.
  • Manage product positioning, pricing, forecasting, promotional strategies; analyze effectiveness of launches and promotions. Work closely with Product Management in these areas.
  • Analyze sales, market share, brand health and profits to determine return on marketing investment.
  • Monitor competitive activity, assess risk, build strategies to differentiate.
  • Create effective Go-to-Market plans for new products focused on new growth markets.
Public Relations
  • Create superior, break-through, Public Relations activities to articulate the brand purpose and unique value proposition of SEPATON.
  • Optimize exposure of the company and products in all media channels.
  • Assure the same message is conveyed internally as well as externally / globally with clear product and theme prioritization.
Desired Skills & Experience: Experience -
  • The right candidate will bring a combination of great experience in demand generation strategy, creative development and production, with strong abilities in project management and cross-team collaboration.
  • Successful track record within data storage or software vendor businesses in senior commercial roles.
  • The creativity, imagination and courage to ‘not follow the herd.’
  • 10+ years’ experience in developing and implementing of global strategic marketing plans from vision through implementation.
  • Startup DNA (e.g., a strategic thinker who thrives on delivery).
  • We are a results driven company, and we are seeking someone who works and manages by quantifiable metrics.
  • Superior interpersonal abilities and strong communications skills (oral and written).
  • Creativity to build programs that engage prospects and optimize marketing dollars.
  • Bachelor’s degree; Master’s level graduate degree and/or MBA preferred.
  • Market Research/Insight driven.
