SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly responsible for Tropical Smoothie’s position in the marketplace. Drives the advertising promotional calendar, public relations, and franchise development marketing functions for the brand. Develops a cohesive marketing strategy across all brand advertising, new products, corporate communications, and café’ initiatives while overseeing a team of managers and employees to implement the various components of the strategy in a fast-paced environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Champions the brand positioning and drives the continued evolution of the marketing strategy
Leads the marketing team and serves as the final authority for all vendors
Provides market insight and industry awareness to help guide the Tropical Smoothie through the changing competitive landscape
Drives the advertising promotional calendar, public relations, and franchise development marketing functions for the brand
Strikes the right balance among creativity, operational results and data-driven decision-making
Serves as a Senior Leadership team member partnering closely with the CEO
Drives flexibility and creativity in marketing processes enabling better departmental execution
Leads strategy and execution for the marketing including media, co-ops, field marketing and franchise marketing support
Refines a compelling marketing message and positioning consistent with the brand strategy
Ensures consistent communication of the message in all channels

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Compiles information and data related to market, customer and products to drive business results
Works closely with the sales, product and operations functions to establish successful channel programs
Put into place infrastructure and systems to support the success of the marketing function
Actively manages new products opportunities within our existing portfolio and strategic frame. Understands external trends that may impact growth opportunities in this area

KEY RESULTS AREAS:

Meeting company revenue plans
Appropriate use of our trademark in a way that builds the brand while generating sales
Effective and efficient use of marketing resources (including marketing team as well as external partners)
Demonstrated experience connecting measurable ROI to internal and external marketing programs and functions, including new product initiatives

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Minimum 15 years experience in designing, planning, development, and execution of marketing plans, preferably in restaurant/specialty food
Proven brand builder in franchise multi-unit concept is required
Must have multi-unit retail marketing experience at a Director or VP level. Candidates who do not meet this qualification will not be considered
Demonstrated experience in the superior creation and execution of marketing programs and plans
Ability to develop high performing team
Demonstrated experience in construction of marketing strategies and development of specific plans around those strategies.
Must possess an intense sense of urgency coupled with unbridled enthusiasm and passion
Effective project and time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

4-Year degree is required (ideally from a top tier institution) – preferably in business or related field of study

Master’s degree preferred

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITY
Responsible for a cost center budget including marketing and overhead expenses

WORKING CONDITIONS
Occasional out-of-town travel required
General office working conditions

A strong knack for creative design, use of language, and overall consumer engagement
Proven brand steward who maintains the brand identity
Demonstrated ability to build relationships with internal and external work teams
Effective at leading cross-functionally and effectively with others at all levels
Fluent in fundamentals of marketing knowledge such as media, creative process, research
Proven success managing relationships with external vendors
Ability to work on tight deadlines in a fast-paced, team environment
Extremely driven with superior communication skills
Resourceful and organized with an appreciation and attention towards important details
