This key leadership role is accountable for establishing and delivering the Strategic Plan for the US Cardiac Surgery Business Unit. This individual will oversee the development and management of US Cardiac Surgery marketing plans including objectives and strategies, and will direct upstream marketing activities.

Furthermore, this position will function as the key communication link between US Marketing, Sales, and the internal organization in the US; as well as Global Marketing in Europe.

  • Communicate and work effectively in conjunction with the Global Marketing team to examine all opportunities and adjacencies
  • Work with R&D to create a list of alternatives, and decide on go/no go of the eventual product development and product launch.
  • Establish vision, and create ability for the organization to be ahead of market, understanding trends in reimbursement, practice and new technologies.
  • Determine customer unmet needs and identify opportunities to meet critical needs
  • Ensure product consistency with overall portfolio strategy
  • Create and articulate value proposition and pricing strategies
  • Preparation and presentation of quarterly marketing trends for Sorin Cardiac Surgery and competitive lines
  • Develop and implement robust launch plans and manage timely roll-out
  • Develop and implement product lifecycle plans
  • Conduct and analyze market research-identify and capitalize on marketing trends
  • Works fluidly with outside agencies for market research projects outside the scope of current team
  • Coach, mentor, and lead current marketing team to ensure the highest levels of performance.
  • Must be able to be a leader within the organization and work hand in hand with sales team and US Regional Managers
  • Provide support in the area of marketing strategy and management
  • Develop annual marketing plan and the strategies, tactics and resources necessary to achieve goals that are strongly aligned with sales goals
  • Create a marketing reporting function to track measure and analyze performance
  • Ensure all marketing communications are coordinated, support marketing plan objectives such as lead generation and are an effective expenditure of resources
  • Provide marketing skills and expertise to Sorin Cardiac Surgery by building, developing and managing a marketing team capable of carrying out the necessary marketing strategies and tactics
  • Oversee and direct market research, competitor analyses and customer service and retention monitoring processes and initiatives
  • Must have a deep understanding of reimbursement issues and healthcare economic challenges
  • Establish key customer and competitive knowledge research initiatives
  • Identify important data to be captured in database, generate related data mining requests, understand competitor strategies
  • Set high level promotional, advertising and conference budgets and objectives
  • Possess the capacity to lead and work together with multiple geographies (global perspective)
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education :

Bachelor's degree in Marketing or similar preferred, MBA preferred

Experience :

10 years of marketing experience with 5 years of experience in a leadership role

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required :
  • Proficiency in planning & execution

  • Ability to analyze market analytics with expertise in in-house systems (Cognos)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel expertise

  • Experience developing direct marketing and market segmentation strategies with emphasis on messaging and content development
  • Demonstrated ability working with sales teams and developing market strategies that are aligned with sales goals
  • Effective management of P&L responsibility
  • Ability to travel in US and abroad
  • Marketing management experience in Medical Device required; Sales experience a plus
