Veritude is currently seeking a Vendor Analyst to work on-site at client, Fidelity Investments in Westlake, Texas. This is a 6+ month contract assignment initially with possibility of extending.

Fidelity Procurement is a strategic partner with Fidelity's business units to create and execute procurement and vendor management strategies. The group is responsible for the acquisition of goods and services ranging across several categories such as: technology (hardware, software, telecommunications, market data feeds), corporate services (real estate, HR Benefits, professional services, administrative, travel) and marketing communications (print, marketing, advertising, financial services).

Position Description

The Vendor Analyst will conduct vendor financial health assessment screenings, provide vendor risk monitoring and reporting in support of Fidelity’s overall vendor management initiatives. This will include programs managed by Procurement’s category managers, business unit vendor managers and corporate risk managers. Additionally the Vendor Analyst may be required to provide analytical and research support within the Procurement organization in support of category business planning, strategic sourcing activities, reporting, and other key procurement initiatives. In this role, you will be responsible for detailed vendor financial analysis of publicly and privately owned vendors.

As the Vendor Analyst, you will independently make decisions on inputs, interpretations, and information strategies in support of the financial health assessments, recommendations and analysis being developed. You will independently identify resources, validate information, identify scenarios, develop data and market interpretations, and provide summary and comprehensive perspective to the evaluation process. The Vendor Analyst will need to be self driven and proactive in achieving the objectives of the role and will need to independently bring value adding input into the vendor management process.

Primary Responsibilities

Vendor Financial Health Risk Assessment Screening, Monitoring and Reporting

Conducts vendor financial health assessment screening, risk monitoring and reporting including -

Minimizing supply chain disruptions by analyzing the financial condition of key incumbent vendors and prospective vendors.

Analyzing 10-K annual reports, 10-Q quarterly reports, audited financial statements (income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements), debt structures, debt maturity schedules, credit ratings and news flow of publicly held and privately held companies

Meeting with CFO’s of publicly held and privately held companies and reviewing financial and operational performance.

Meeting with senior executives throughout Fidelity and provide an informed point of view where risk exists within the supply chain.

Writing and presenting company research reports and industry research reports.

Conducting side-by-side vendor comparisons in terms of financial condition.

Utilizing market data applications such as S&P Capital IQ, First Research, Hoovers, and OneSource. Utilizing risk management applications such as D&B Supply Risk Manager. Utilizing other applications such as Emptoris Spend Analyzer, MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint.

Spend & Data Analysis

Develops detailed knowledge of Fidelity spend and characteristics.

Uses the output from high-level data reports to further classify spend baselines to a lower-level of granularity (i.e. cleaning and rationalization of sub-commodity, line item, or individual cost components, unit price, etc.).

Documents historic, projected, and other cost components for a total cost perspective of the commodity under review.

Project Management

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Able to indirectly lead and influence others to complete assigned task on time

Market Research

Conducts supply market research in support of category business planning and vendor management initiatives specifically:

Identifies market trends and financial outlooks from multiple/reliable resources.

Identifies alternative suppliers.

Gains insight into market leaders.

Identifies supplier ownership changes and their significance to the market and Fidelity.

Researches and documents industry trends and benchmarking.

Develops supplier profiles to support vendor management efforts

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Finance or equivalent business experience

MBA a plus

2 - 3 years of detailed financial analysis of public and private companies

Some financial marketplace research and analysis background desired (e.g., experience with an organization like Factiva, Hoovers, Forrester, Gartner Group, IDG, etc.); experience developing and delivering financial research reports, a plus.

Skills and Knowledge:
Demonstrated success in a complex decision support function including ad hoc reporting, production reporting, and market research/analysis.

Strong interpersonal skills and proactive attitude – must be a self-starter

Ability to understand, craft, and communicate complex concepts or information to a broad set of audiences.

Able to develop metrics for complex relationships.

Strong audit and analysis skills.

Ability to translate data into information for decision making.

Attention to detail

Ability to develop comprehensive presentation materials that will visually organize the efforts underway and milestone achievements.

Ability to understand the data elements and various technology sources.

Strong knowledge of Fidelity information systems.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Basic understanding of procurement processes and performance metrics

Superior written and oral communications skills.

Outstanding skills in multi-tasking/time management.

Ability to work in team and project environment.

Ability to work independently and with little guidance.
