Vendor Management Coordinator
USG IT will continue to outsource services; this position drives value out of each outsourcing agreement. This position ensures that IT vendor management guidelines are documented, communicated, and achieved. Researches trends and new service offerings utilizing independent research firms. Participates in vendor contract negotiation process and ongoing cost management. Develops and communicates metrics around current vendor landscape. Acts as a liaison between vendors and IT regarding operational issues. Scope includes vendors providing staff augmentation, hardware/software/infrastructure, as well as service providers.
Initially part of IT Operations, and will be actively involved in the IT Infrastructure Outsourcing Transition effort underway in 2013 and setting up the right vendor management infrastructure for those critical vendor relationships. Initially, will report to the Manager, End User Computing Services and does not have direct reports. Position is expected to evolve to larger scope involving other areas. Travel may be required. Salary Band 10.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Works with the IT PMO to maintain currency of IT Vendor Engagement and Categorization Guidelines
-Work with the IT PMO to develop standard templates for Master Service Agreements (MSA) and Statements of Work (SOW) and associated subsets of each
-Develop, maintain and communicate a current summary of the USG IT vendor landscape
-Demonstrates knowledge of the vendor contracting process (MSA, SOW, etc.)
-Assist USG IT vendor owners with ongoing operational activities required to manage the vendor on behalf of USG
-Engage vendor and participate in negotiations relating to hard cost savings
-Work with independent research firms (e.g., Gartner, NOREX, etc.) to identify prospective vendors and formulate recommendations as either new IT services are required or contracts are expiring
-Assist the IT PMO with benchmarking USG IT against the manufacturing industry with regard to usage and spend for service providers
-Keep abreast of current and emerging vendor management trends
-Develop the criteria and metrics appropriate for creation and publication of a vendor scorecard
-Knowledge and/or experience working with infrastructure service providers with respect to the following service towers:
-Data Center and Event Monitoring
-Network Management and Services
-Service Desk, End User Services and Asset Management
-Enterprise Application Integration
-Act as an escalation point for vendor-related issues.
-Work with IT teams to ensure that each vendor is tiered and categorized per the guidelines set forth.
-Work with IT teams to ensure that each vendor is engaged appropriately throughout the year per the guidelines set forth.
-Participates in vendor engagement, negotiations, communication of vendor roadmaps, etc.
-Drive vendors to initiate and sustain governance processes per the ITIL framework
-Assist USG IT technical personnel as required with vendor escalation of technical issues
-Understand and manage the vendor contracts to ensure that USG is realizing expected value from the vendor contract
-Explain/train IT personnel as subject matter expert in vendor management
-Communicates vendor service level agreements to internal customers to ensure understanding

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
Years of Experience
A minimum of 10 years of experience in an enterprise IT vendor management or related position
-Excellent analytical, problem solving, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
-Demonstrated experience implementing vendor management best practices in an enterprise IT organization
-Experience with IT outsourcing vendor management practices and engagement
-Experience in vendor negotiations and working with an IT PMO organization
-Experience working with cross functional teams as it relates to projects requiring participation from external vendors
-Experience in training IT employees in vendor management processes and procedures
-Knowledge/certification in ITIL framework and concepts as applied to vendor management
-Experience negotiating and managing other IT professional services contracts (e.g., staff augmentation, consulting, etc.)
-Experience with creation of vendor management contract documentation such as MSA, SOW and related components
-Experience dealing with one or more of the following service providers: 1) CompuCom, 2) Server Central, 3) Century Link, 4) Oracle, and 5) Software AG
