Summary: The expectation of this position is to develop veterinary programs to support production standards to achieve business objectives. The essential functions of this position are as follows: design, implement, and monitor health programs that achieve bird health objectives; acquire technical information advantageous to business objectives; achieve compliance with import and export and interstate regulations; identify production issues with external and internal customers; have effective interdepartmental communications. REQUIREMENTS Education: Doctoral degree (DVM). MAM preferred. Experience: Three years plus related experience (time in veterinary college counts towards experience). Board certified by American College of Poultry Veterinarians. Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Georgia required. Licensed to practice in the states of North Carolina, Kentucky and/or Tennessee preferred. Computer Skills: Basic computer skills. Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills. Physical Requirements: Must use safe lifting techniques. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to touch, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, talk or hear. The team member must occasionally lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds. Personal Protective Equipment Required: When visiting facilities is expected to follow the required safety procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment. Biosecurity: When visiting jobsites/biosecurity environments, showering before entering the facilities is required. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsites except for medical ID jewelry. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, and birds). The Company Animal Welfare Policy must be followed at all times. Supervisory: None. Travel: Extensive domestic and some international travel may be required.
