Experience Required: DVM or equivalent degree. One year clinical experience required, experience in exotics strongly recommended.

Program Description:
An AZA accredited institution, the Phoenix Zoo is situated on 132 acres 10 minutes from downtown Phoenix, Arizona, currently the fifth largest city in the country. The collection consists of approximately 1,300 animals including more than 80 species of mammals, 95 species of birds, 60 species of reptiles, and 70 species of amphibians, invertebrates, and fish. The full service hospital is staffed by two full time veterinarians, two certified veterinary technicians, one hospital keeper, and one administrative assistant. Feel free to visit our general zoo website at The internship is a one year, salaried position. The intern would participate in all aspects of veterinary care at the zoo. In addition, the intern would be expected to help with the education of veterinary externs that rotate through the zoo hospital. During the internship, the intern will be expected to assist with zoo wide presentations and write at least one publication for submission to a peer-reviewed journal. An intern research fund is available to assist the intern with accomplishing an original research project during the course of the internship.
