The Vice President of Academic Affairs is the chief academic officer of the College and is responsible for providing leadership in curriculum, instruction, and educational services. He or she works collaboratively with faculty and promotes their professional development. The Vice President also provides leadership and administrative direction over academic matters for the divisions of Liberal Arts; Business, Mathematics and Science; Health and Industrial Technology; Library and Instructional Services; testing and the Student Success Center.

Prairie State College is a comprehensive community college located in the south suburbs of Chicago. The communities in our district are characterized by a rich social, economic and ethnic diversity. Some students come to us with excellent preparation and are ready to enroll in our honors program; others need additional course work before they are prepared to take rigorous college courses. We are fortunate to have an unusually talented faculty with a history of working collaboratively with the administration to support academic initiatives and best practices for teaching and learning.

As the College's chief academic officer, the Vice President of Academic Affairs plays a crucial role in providing leadership for the faculty and support for their commitment to academic excellence, student success, and innovative programs. Successful candidates will have experience working with developmental education; program development and evaluation; outcomes assessment; high impact practices like learning communities and service learning; and faculty and staff development. They will also need experience with budgeting and with instructional design and technology. We expect candidates to have outstanding oral and written communication skills and to have a collaborative approach to working with colleagues across the college to achieve common goals.

Minimum Qualifications:
? Earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution

? Significant administrative experience in higher education

? College teaching experience

? Experience with curriculum design and program development

? Expertise in budget development, financial management, and resource allocation

? Experience managing under a collective bargaining agreement

? Ability to work effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and students

? Experience providing leadership in faculty development, instructional design and technology

? Ability to work collaboratively with faculty to accomplish institutional goals

? Strong computer, analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

? Openness and the ability to inspire trust and loyalty among colleagues and across the College community

Preferred Qualifications:
? Administrative and teaching experience in a community college

? Knowledge of rules and regulations pertaining to higher education

? Experience administering and advancing technology programs and using technology to enhance teaching and learning

? Knowledge of the Illinois community college system

? Experience with accreditation
