ESI Design, an innovation and experience design consultancy, seeks a high-energy, entrepreneurial Vice President of Business Development and Marketing. S/he will be responsible for driving top-line revenue growth by leading a team that generates new business in key corporate, institutional and cultural markets. Specific responsibilities include:

Business Development:
o Develop and execute new business growth strategy

o Define target markets and grow the pipeline in close collaboration with business development team

o Understand ESI capabilities and accurately articulate our value proposition to prospective clients

o Grow our network and develop partnerships and strategic alliances in conjunction with the Companys growth strategy

o Oversee development of messaging, proposals and pitch strategies that resonate with prospective clients

o Pitch, negotiate and close deals

o Refine ESIs brand narrative in evolving competitive landscape to develop marketing strategies that generate awareness, build trust and deepen relationships with core audiences: prospective clients, press, partners, thought leaders and new recruits.

o Oversee marketing activities in collaboration with Communications Strategist including website/social media, thought leadership, PR, sales materials, conferences/awards

o Conduct research to ensure that ESI stays current on market opportunities, trends/ issues, and competitive landscape

Department Leadership:
o Oversee recruiting, training, mentorship, workflow and quality assurance for the business development and marketing team as well as external consultants.

o Activate, mentor and support staff as brand ambassadors/thought leaders.


10-12+ years of successful experience in business development and marketing roles, ideally at an agency, design firm or other creative consultancy


Proven track record of increasing revenue and closing new business.


Strategic and creative thinker who can identify and effectively respond to market opportunities


Ability to lead, motivate and develop a talented sales and marketing team


Exceptional intrapersonal skills including the ability to build strong relationships with clients, partners and internal teams


Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the creation of proposals and presentations.


Proficiencies in Adobe Creative Suite, Keynote and other design applications a plus


Capacity to travel frequently to pitches and presentations


BA/BS, MBA a plus

Salary: salary commensurate with experience; Location: New York City.
