We are looking for a world-class sales executive to be our VP, Radio Sales. The ideal candidate will thrive in our fast-paced, result-oriented, work environment and be able to work collaboratively with our internal teams. Reporting to the CEO, the VP, Radio Sales is responsible for building our radio business, selling online radio advertising to broadcast budgets.
This is a senior sales leadership position overseeing a team of dedicated radio sellers, with a responsibility to recruit, train, mentor and scale a sales organization. The VP will work with senior management to set the strategic direction and plan for radio advertising sales, oversee its execution, ensure results from the radio sales team, and provide market feedback and insight to the rest of the management team.
The candidate will have deep transactional experience selling Network and Spot radio advertising, developing major accounts, and contracting for business. This role requires very deep relationships with a broad base of ad agency and brand contacts in the radio space, and an intimate understanding of how they make marketing, budgeting and media buying decisions. The VP is expected to personally lead major upfront contract sales and help secure new strategic account wins.
In addition to our flagship online audio advertising product, our inventory also consists of pre-roll video, online display formats and custom opportunities from high-profile radio and music sites. The candidate will have proven experience bridging traditional and digital media sales, and a proven ability to position digital media to traditional media buyers.
Responsibilities
Accelerate adoption of Internet Radio advertising and command presence as the interactive expert in the radio space
Set strategy for the radio sales team, including identifying prospects and prioritizing opportunities
Establish sales objectives in coordination with management based on the Company’s business plan
Build and cultivate strategic level relationships with ad agencies and brand advertisers
Develop account strategies to drive long term revenue growth, drive upfront media buying and develop RFPs
Generate campaign ideation, drive revenue through consultative sales while negotiating rates to maximize revenue
Manage the radio sales team pipeline
Develop training programs, focusing the team on areas for maximum revenue impact
Requirements
Deep commitment and clear vision for growing the Internet Radio advertising market
10-15 years proven track record in radio advertising sales, large-account sales and sales management
Applicable knowledge of interactive advertising sales, including instream audio
Proven ability to achieve sales goals year over year in both sales management and direct sales
Extensive relationships with Network and Spot radio ad agencies and decision makers at brands
Recognized thought leadership, with track record of developing new ad offerings that deliver results
Ability to compile and analyze performance metrics and strong proficiency in forecast management
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to travel as required
