Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Vice President of Finance and Administration directs the finances of the organization and oversees office operations. This individual is responsible for providing strategic leadership and tactical support for the organization’s fiscal operations and business compliance. Additionally, the candidate will oversee the organization’s Human Resources, Facilities, and IT functions. This position provides an exciting opportunity for an entrepreneurial minded individual to contribute to the strategic direction of a growing organization that has a tremendous impact on public education and the lives of underserved children.
Oversee a full range of accounting and financial services (A/P, A/R, account reconciliations and allocations, financial statement preparation, payroll, cash projections, 990 & 1099 preparation, benefits provision, fixed asset schedules, budgeting, project analysis, etc.)
Ensure the continued viability of the NAPCS’s programs through sound fiscal and strategic leadership by:
Creating and analyzing financial reports
Supporting and advising the CEO in decision making
Overseeing the monitoring and reporting of grants (restricted and unrestricted)
Support the development of an annual operating budget, ensuring it aligns with strategic priorities and grant obligations, and champion its acceptance by CEO and board of directors, manage effectively within this budget, and report accurately on progress made and challenges encountered
Liaise with senior staff to accurately create financial analyses, cash flow forecasting, fundraising targets and project strategies
Grow and cultivate a high performance organizational culture by further developing and implementing recruitment, training, and retention strategies
Oversee risk management and legal activities
Manage audit and auditor relationship
Oversee the organization’s outsourced IT and facilities needs
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree, CPA or MBA preferred
Deep understanding of finance and accounting is a must
Significant experience communicating financial information to non-financial people
Familiarity with QuickBooks (or similar accounting package) is a must
Contract negotiation experience is a must
Entrepreneurial spirit required
HR and Benefits management experience is a plus
Grants management experience is a plus
Personal qualities of honesty, integrity and initiative are imperative
