Interlochen Center for the Arts invites nominations and applications for the position of Vice President for Advancement. Reporting to Interlochen's President, Jeffrey Kimpton, the Vice President will oversee and lead all advancement activities, and will serve as a key member of the leadership team that sets strategic direction for Interlochen at an exciting time of growth for this renowned institution. This is an outstanding leadership opportunity at one of the world's most esteemed centers of arts education.
The Vice President for Advancement will build on the current success of the advancement program, and develop strategic direction and tactical programs to lead the evolution of an industry-leading advancement office as it adapts to a changing social, technological, philanthropic, and educational climate. The Vice President will lead a staff of approximately 18 professionals who are responsible for a cohesive advancement program relevant to Interlochen's increasingly diverse constituencies and programs. The Vice President will report to and work closely with the President, strategically partnering with him and the Board of Trustees to bring Interlochen's advancement operation to new levels of productivity and innovation. S/he will also provide leadership in preparation for a comprehensive capital campaign. The Vice President will travel extensively.
Candidates will have ten or more years of experience in the advancement field, including but not limited to: demonstrated success in cultivating and soliciting seven-figure gifts, innovative structuring of an advancement operation, leadership experience of a capital campaign, creativity and efficiency in managing volunteers, and a background in identifying and engaging donors from multiple and diverse constituencies.
The Vice President will have a deep understanding of and passion for the mission, culture, and goals of this world-class arts institution and will champion Interlochen to a passionate alumni and friend constituency. Candidates should manage in a style that encourages innovation and adaptation of technology, promotes diversity, and rewards collaboration and teamwork. A bachelor's degree is required and a background in the arts is highly desirable.
