ShapeUp is looking for an experienced marketing executive to foster its continued growth. This is an exciting opportunity to expand the company’s marketing capabilities and provide thought leadership. The VP Marketing position is a full-time position with management responsibilities, reporting to the COO.

Our ideal candidate will bring proven skills and a solid understanding of how to develop and execute a superior B-to-B and B-to-C marketing operation. This candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills. This candidate will be both creative and passionate about the pursuit of excellence and will lead by example, working collaboratively across the company and with customers and partners to ensure that the best ideas and programs are delivered to the market.

The VP of Marketing will be both entrepreneurial and data-driven and will leverage social tools and technology to push the envelope to spark awareness, understanding and engagement in ShapeUp. This candidate will bring effective management skills to work openly with his/her team and across the organization to create a team-oriented environment. This executive will accept and overcome difficult challenges and manage risk effectively and with a sense of humor.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

Translate company goals and strategy into department goals and strategy

Define metrics and measure for success and implement improvements


Manage and hire great people to support ongoing strategic marketing plans

Manage marketing staff, including graphic design department

Create and maintain annual marketing budget


Ensure timely execution of the marketing programs

Work closely with other departments in the organization to ensure needs are being met, timelines are managed, and the information continues to flow openly

Possess a working knowledge of HTML, ExactTarget, Hubspot, Salesforce, and GoToWebinar

Thought Leadership and Awareness

Develop and deliver content and integrated programs that will promote ShapeUp as a thought leader in the wellness industry

Organize and drive events, user conferences, speaking opportunities, blogging and ongoing PR

End User Experience

Partner with ShapeUp customers to create videos, marketing materials and programs that will effectively illustrate the end user experience

Support client services with creative services to assist with initial implementations as well as ongoing content support end user recruitment and on-going engagement

Sales Support

Develop collateral, sales tools, videos and other materials to support field and inside sales needs

Coordinate market and company knowledge for ongoing competitive analysis, strategies and tactics

Manage the ongoing design, structure, and content of the company Web site necessary to support inbound lead generation

Deliver compelling presentations that will support our messaging and positioning of our company, product and end user experience

Lead Development

Deliver inbound marketing programs to drive lead development and nurturing to support sales pipeline requirements

Promote lead development via webinars, whitepapers, reports, surveys, other online marketing campaigns, and our website

To Be Successful, You Will Need:
Eight or more years of experience in marketing

MBA preferred but not required

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Team player and willing to work in an open dynamic culture

Ability to summarize important points quickly and effectively

Experience working both strategically and tactically

Ability to bring a sense of humor and adventure to the workplace
