The Vice President of Network Operations is an experienced leader with deep technical acumen in field services and network operations who will provide oversight of all U.S. network assets.
The incumbent is responsible for delivering superior operational performance across all asset classes, including wireless, broadcast, and managed networks.
The incumbent will manage the carrier-grade Network Operations Center (NOC), which provides performance monitoring of all active network elements and adheres to stringent customer requirements.
The position will also lead a field force of over 200 personnel who perform site maintenance, tower climbing and installation monitoring.
The Vice President is responsible for supporting business objectives through operational procedures that encompass the use of technology to improve process and accuracy, ticketing systems to support internal metrics, compliance with regulations and license agreements, and ensuring accurate reporting.
The incumbent will ensure high quality work and a strict adherence to safety standards while continuously improving current systems and work processes to deliver exceptional customer service and quick response times.
The Vice President will maintain strategic client relationships and support vendor/contractor management, ensuring infrastructure stability and overall network performance.
Develop and implement strategic vision for the Operations organization and provide the leadership and subject matter expertise to assure the consistent execution of this vision.
Establish strong relationships across the organization with key partners and constituents, specifically Leasing Operations, Engineering, Network Development and Compliance, to meets the team’s goals and objectives,.
Operate the NOC and have appropriate technical acumen to support wireless, broadcast and managed network assets.
Enhance and ensure a culture of safety and ethical compliance across a large geographically diverse field force.
Oversee the management and implementation of large-scale projects and service contracts.
Maintain and enhance a strong service-oriented environment for both internal and external customers, focused on problem prediction, detection and resolution.
Identify areas of new business opportunities; develop the business case, proposals and implementation plan for these new ventures.
Ensure full compliance with all federal, state and municipal regulations for owned/managed assets and personnel.
Conduct periodic training in support of compliance and other training initiatives and requirements, including ensuring area personnel are current on required training (e.g., FAA, FCC, EME, OSHA 10, CPR, First Aid, Tower Rescue, etc.)
Maintain and update disaster recovery procedures and protocols.
Develop and manage the Network Operations budget.
Value engineer existing processes and tools used in the field and the centralized NOC to maximize organizational efficiency while enhancing the customer experience.
Implement improved processes, which
utilize technology, to improve jobs, processes, training, tools and overall work quality
Other duties as assigned
Recruit, develop and retain staff, partnering with Senior Management, Recruiting and Human Resources.
This includes on-boarding and orientation for new hires
Provide disciplined performance management for team.
Define and communicate annual goals, perform formal and informal performance reviews, and ensure changes and updates are communicated in a timely and professional manner
Create strong collaborative team environment that focuses on safety and career development and progression for employees
Proactively identify and resolve personnel issues in conjunction with Human Resources
Exceptional strategic planning and leadership skills, with proven record of recommending and implementing process and efficiency improvements; demonstrated success in identifying and successfully executing strategic business opportunities.
Excellent leadership skills; ability to drive and motivate team to achieve results; ability to influence and inspire action through strong decision-making skills.
Demonstrated success in identifying and synthesizing internal and external customer needs into a concise, clear and influential presentation.
Must be able to teach others how to do so as well.
Ability to work effectively across many internal functional groups to optimize product offerings, create a seamless internal and external customer experience and resolve issues.
Self-motivated; able to work independently to complete tasks and respond to department requests and to collaborate with other to utilize their resources and knowledge to identify high quality solutions.
Demonstrated success in identifying talent and building individual and management capability; proven track record of building successful organizations.
Exceptional strategic and problem solving skills to effectively influence decision making in key negotiations
Solid understanding and familiarity with telecommunications industry technologies, with a clear plan to stay abreast of technological advancements.
Understanding of RF theory and cellular communications, including the installation and maintenance of base stations and antennas, broadcast engineering, and distributed antenna systems.
Demonstrated success in identifying talent and building individual and management capability.
Proven track record of building successful organizations.
Strong experience handling employee issues and making sound judgment decisions in this area
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
10+ years of combined telecommunications and/or network operations experience, including management of multi-layered teams
4-year college degree required; advanced degree preferred
6+ years of field force management preferred
Technology experience implementing and improving systems and processes for wireless, broadcast and managed sites networks
Experience managing budgets in excess of $50 million
Approximately 50% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions.
Approximately 50% travel may be required in support of the position’s responsibilities.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to feel and handle, reach with arms and hands, talk and hear.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel and crouch, lift weight or exert a force up to a maximum of 25 pounds.
