The Vice President of Operations will coordinate all production areas to manufacture product in the most cost-efficient manner while adhering to quality standards, with consideration given to environmental, human resources needs and budgetary criteria. Responsible for overall management, direction and coordination of the production, engineering, materials management, safety, environmental, ISO compliance and maintenance operations, including planning, efficiencies and shipments of all orders and assisting with process improvements. Develops plans to meet the goals of the site and drive the production operation to execute to these plans. Works to improve overall plant function by working with managers and manufacturing teams through continuous improvement processes. Works closely with the General Manager to meet throughput goals and customer expectations for delivery and quality. .


  • Responsible for setting the operations vision and strategy to meet overall long and short term company goals. This includes definition and communication of goals, key objectives, and metrics.
  • Ensures that Operations meets the business needs of the company as they relate to capabilities, processes, technologies, and capacity. Stays current with related manufacturing trends.
  • Responsible to execute to the operations plan.
  • Executes continuous improvement initiatives including determination of goals and selection and completion of projects.
  • Develops and maintains detailed plans to achieve group goals, including but not limited to: revenue, product gross margins, operating budgets, first-pass yields, throughput, inventory, rework, scrap, on-time delivery, employee safety, product quality and customer satisfaction goals. Monitors applied labor, bills of material, shop supplies, scrap, rework and yield for each product against standards and figures used to develop customer quotes. Ensures metrics are in place to monitor performance against the goals and takes appropriate corrective actions as required.
  • Plans and manages factory flow to optimize product throughput, and margins.
  • Integrates new processes into the manufacturing operations.
  • Develops and maintains an effective operations organization through the selection, training, development, compensation and motivation of all personnel assigned to the operations organization. Recommends and approves organizational structures and staffing requirements in support of company business objectives.
  • Manages daily production including communication of customer orders, quality, equipment, process and personnel issues.
  • Responsible for the security of the facilities and compliance with all safety and environmental requirements.
  • Complies with laws, company policy and procedures including but not limited to Equal Opportunity Employment, Affirmative Action, Business Ethics, EPA, OSHA and other federal, state and local regulatory agencies.
  • May handle hazardous waste as outlined in departmental work instructions. The following RCRA training is required on initial hire and on an annual basis thereafter: Introduction to RCRA, Properties of Facility Waste, Waste Minimization Accumulation, Container Management, and Emergency Response Plan.

  • Strong structured problem solving skills including the ability to work with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead the production / engineering team to identify the root cause of issues which prohibit execution of the production plan and address the fundamental cause (s) in a timely fashion.
  • Knowledge of factory processes including plating, drilling, testing, lamination and bonding.
  • Ability to define, acquire, process, present, and interpret the data and information necessary to monitor all aspects of the manufacturing process important to executing to the production plan.
  • Skilled in effective product scheduling, workflow, and material management processes.
  • Strong project management skills. Strong business sense and ability to make good decisions in the light of limited information.
  • Extensive experience in designing and evaluating, implementing, and improving production control systems and automated control systems. Understanding of risk management tools and ability to develop and execute mitigation plans as they related to production issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to set challenging production targets and meet them. Ability to adapt to changed dynamic work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate their team to achieve optimal results. Leverages each member's strengths, and provides recognition of accomplishments to maximize overall results.
  • Good understanding of the product's operation and key performance parameters, as well as the processes and materials used to manufacture responsible products.
  • Basic understanding of the customer's application and key performance parameters.
  • Ability to relate key operational performance parameters to financial performance parameters.
  • Vision to create and promote visual factory.
  • Working understanding of Sales & Operations Planning processes and leads supply planning process.
  • Strong PC Skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Required Experience Education: BS in Technical discipline required with MBA a plus Formal production management training required (industrial engineering, lean manufacturing, Six Sigma) Experience: 15 years in manufacturing including 5+ years at a senior manager level position directing operations of PCB or similar manufacturing facility with direct responsibility to meet production throughput and quality goals. Experience working with complex/engineered product lines. Significant experience defining and utilizing manufacturing systems, data, and metrics to plan and execute production plans.

    Additional Requirements: Must be eligible to work on defense and satellite programs subject to ITAR Regulations. Therefore, candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident ('Green Card').
