In March of 2011, the Solazyme Health Sciences team launched Algenist, an anti-aging skincare line based on a never-before-seen ingredient technology, Alguronic Acid, a regenerative compound from microalgae discovered unexpectedly by our biotechnology laboratory. Algenist launched simultaneously in over 840 Sephora stores in the U.S. and Europe and on QVC with huge success. Algenist has garnered top reviews from clients and media outlets, with sold out shows on QVC and three of our products securing ‘Top Seller’ status in their respective categories by Sephora USA. Algenist has since expanded into Canada and the UK and continues to grow their skincare assortment with the introduction of new products and expansion into new markets.
The Vice President of Sales will be responsible for developing business and securing new accounts as part of Algenist's global distribution growth strategy. This position is based in South San Francisco, California.
In charge of the current accounts of Algenist (Sephora USA, EMEA, QVC, Space NK UK). Develop and drive relationships, sales, etc. according to sales plan.
Responsible for developing and executing the business development strategy for key international markets, especially Asia, South America and Mexico, Germany and Russia, including outreach to and management of prospect accounts.
Oversee market reports and market and pricing analysis for target territories. Responsible for securing favorable distribution agreements with target accounts.
Working closely with internal Operations and third-party vendors, will ensure that regulatory requirements for new markets are identified and satisfied in a timely manner to ensure on-time launches.
Will work closely with prospect accounts and internal marketing team to develop marketing launch strategies for new territories.
Maintain established sales goals on a quarterly and annual basis.
At least 8 - 12 years of demonstrated success in international prestige skincare sales and business development.
Bachelor's degree in related field required; MBA desirable.
Experience and established selling relationships in prestige skincare channels of distribution in some or all of the key target markets - Asia, South America and Mexico, Germany and Russia.
Based in, or willing to relocate to, the San Francisco bay area.
Ability and willingness to travel 25-30%
Demonstrated relationship-building and contract negotiation/closing skills.
Experience managing budgets and ROI analysis.
