About the Position:
Sexual Harassment/Assault Response Program provides awareness and prevention, training and education, victim advocacy, response, reporting and follow up for sexual harassment/assault issues. Army promotes sensitive care, advocacy, treatment, reporting options for victims of sexual harassment/assault and accountability for those who commit these crimes.
Fort McCoy is located in a good rural area, between Tomah and Sparta. The area offers commendable schools and reasonable housing costs situated between two major interstates. Serves as a Victim Advocate (SHARP) providing professional and comprehensive advocacy services to victims/survivors of sexual assault and sexual harassment.
Conducts assessments with clients to evaluate needs and risks; recognizing the need for professional intervention and referring to appropriate services.
Ensures victims of sexual assault receive all needed guidance and emotional support during administrative, medical, investigative, and legal procedures, and that victims understand the processes involved and that data will be collected, reported, and maintained on cases.
Accompanies victims and provides support in securing medical treatment, safe shelter, protective orders, court hearings, educational, transportation, financial services, and follow-up assistance.
Provides support before, during and after trials.
Conducts interactive training workshops/seminars to victims, community agencies and the organization.
Victim Advocate (SHARP) GS-0101-09:
Applicants must meet both the Basic Requirement (1) AND Specialized Requirement (2).
(1) BASIC REQUIREMENT:
A. Degree: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
B. Combination of education and experience: that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and appropriate experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the basic requirement, and may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify for the basic requirement.
C. Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
(2) SPECIALIZED REQUIREMENT:
A. Education: To qualify based on education in lieu of specialized experience, applicants must possess a completed master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.
B. Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate-level education and specialized experience (GS-07) may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the GS-09 grade level, and may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required at the next lower grade (GS-07); then determining the applicant's education above the undergraduate degree as a percentage of the education required; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify for the GS-09 grade level.
Only graduate education in excess of the first year of graduate-level education may be used to qualify applicants for positions at the GS-09 grade level. (When crediting education, prorate the number of hours of related courses required as a proportion of the total education to be used.)
C. Specialized experience: To qualify, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level (GS-07). Specialized experience is defined as: Providing professional advocacy services to victims or survivors of sexual assualt and sexual harassment; conducting assessments with clients to evaluate needs and risks; recognizing the need for professional intervention and refering to appropriate services; maintaining partnerships in the community, and conducting training/seminars on sexual assault/sexual harassment.

If using education to qualify, such education must be related to the position and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: To receive credit for education completed outside the United States, you must show proof that the education has been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and such education has been deemed at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs.
