You will serve as a Victim Advocate (SHARP) providing professional and comprehensive advocacy services to victims/survivors of sexual assault and sexual harassment. Conduct assessments with clients to evaluate needs and risks; recognizing the need for professional intervention and referring to appropriate services. Ensure victims of sexual assault receive all needed guidance and emotional support during administrative, medical, investigative, and legal procedures, and that victims understand the processes involved and that data will be collected, reported, and maintained on cases. Accompany victims and provides support in securing medical treatment, safe shelter, protective orders, court hearings, educational, transportation, financial services, and follow-up assistance. Provide support before, during and after trials. Conduct interactive training workshops/seminars to victims, community agencies and the organization.

Specialized experience: To qualify applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level GS-07. Specialized experience is defined as: Providing professional advocacy services to victims or survivors of sexual assault and sexual harassment; conducting assessments with clients to evaluate needs and risks; recognizing the need for professional intervention and refering to appropriate services; maintaining partnerships in the community, and conducting training/seminars on sexual assault/sexual harassment.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities)in the following areas:

• Victim Advocacy Services
• Victim Support Services
• Administrative Duties

Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR

Combination of education and experience -- that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR

Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

Education: To qualify based on education in lieu of specialized experience, applicants must possess a completed master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the GS-09 grade level, and may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at that grade level. (When crediting education that requires specific course work, prorate the number of hours of related courses required as a proportion of the total education to be used.)

Conditions of Employment:
Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET Security Clearance
Incumbents must successfully complete 80-hour SHARP Course and obtain DoD Certification within 6 months of hire.
Incumbents will be screened by the National Sex Offender Registry, Crime Records Center, and the Army Central Registry.
Must possess a Valid Driver's License and have the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
May be subject to occasional On-Call.
May be required to travel in a temporary duty status (TDY) of up to 10 Percent.
