Provide services to prevent domestic abuse and sexual assault through advocacy, education, training and awareness programs educating Soldiers, Family members and Army civilians under the Army Family Advocacy Program (FAP); and to provide domestic abuse and sexual assault victim advocacy and prevention services in support of Army Community Service (ACS) Centers at select joint bases in accordance with Army policies and procedures and current federal, state and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. Collaborate with the Family Advocacy Program, Army Community Service, law enforcement, legal and medical services and installation Commanders to ensure the availability of 24-hour victim advocacy services through personal contact. Individual must be familiar with best practices, standards and procedures within the victim advocacy field.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
• Conduct Domestic Abuse training and awareness programs.
• Provide timely & responsive care and advocacy services when needed to victims of Domestic Abuse 24/7.
• Understand roles/responsibilities regarding care/treatment of victims.
• Ensure proper procedures IAW HIPPA are followed.
• Maintain maximum case load of 35 clients.
• Provide accurate and timely case documentation and data entry into Army on-line tracking systems.
• Victim Advocate liaison to ensure comprehensive services & training are through coordinated community response to domestic violence or sexual assault victims, family members, civilians & soldier.
• Tailor specific services to victim: provide options & resources despite decision to not report
• Ensure that victim advocate services are fully documented.
• Construct and maintain statistical and narrative reports. Prepare appropriate information papers and briefings.
• Maintain case progress documentation, along with data collection, outcome measures, and statistical analysis for program evaluation in accordance with accreditation standards.
• Maintain all records in accordance with applicable Army regulations and DoD directives.
• Ensure eligible victims are advised of restricted & unrestricted reporting options, ensure appropriate ROI signed
• Provide consistent and cohesive advocacy services especially during extended deployments to active and reserve component families regardless of their component or location.
• Analyze and provide recommendations to solve problem areas and deficiencies in program operations and factors/conditions necessary to enhance program objectives.
• Perform as liaison with proponent agencies, components and services to ensure care of victim.
• Develop partnerships with military and civilian local community agencies to extend the Army’s advocacy capabilities.
• Draft routine and specialist correspondence, reports, and briefings.
Minimum Required Skills, Education, Experience & Abilities:
• Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school in social work, psychology, marriage, family & child counseling, counseling, behavioral science, education, community health or public health. Applicant shall provide verification of degrees. Knowledge in federal, state, and local laws/protocol.
• Experience: 2 years – working with victims of domestic abuse/sexual assault violence or victim advocacy service; have motor vehicle/ valid, unrestricted motor vehicle license. Experience working within a military and/or civilian environment preferred.
• Skills: Computer literate with basic computer skills to prepare briefing slides, information papers and enter data in required on-line and hard copy management reports.
Candidate is required to be on-call 24/7, two weeks per month. Some travel within 50-mile radius is required. Candidate may encounter a variety of conditions when caring for victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault.
