The Assistant Controller applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and to prepare financial reports by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):
  • Reconciling the Corporate American Express statement each month and coding the entries to the proper G/L accounts
  • Working with the Travel department to ensure flight and convention expenses are accounted for correctly
  • Performing monthly reconciliation of jobs in process accounts to the general ledger
  • Analyzing financial information and providing detailed analysis when necessary
  • Compiling and preparing annual budget and entering approved budgets into M2K
  • Analyzing variances in budget to actual on the financial statements and meeting with the Controller and department managers to reconcile differences
  • Assisting in preparing work papers for the annual financial statement audit
  • Performing payroll functions that require accuracy and confidentiality; doing data entry of pay information into payroll system; preparing journal entries and 401(k) contribution reports; reviewing and reconciling quarterly tax reports filed by Paycor
  • Performing convention account analysis and reporting
  • Compiling and maintaining project costs for product development, video, graphics, and catalog
  • Assisting Controller and President with financial reports and analysis as requested
  • Assisting Controller with the day-to-day activities and supervision within the Accounting department
  • Preparing monthly collateral report for the bank
  • Assisting Controller in calculating the KPI metrics each month for presentation to LEGO
  • Becoming familiar with other financial reporting tools, such as the fixed asset system, and other accounting areas of A/P and A/R to help as needed
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with two to four years of related accounting experience
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Conscientious, detail-oriented worker who is self-motivated
  • Good organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • 10-key proficient and good computer skills ( Excel or similar spreadsheet program)
  • General office environment
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Close vision abilities required
