Institution: University of Northern Colorado Location: Greeley, CO Category: Admin - Computing - Multimedia Posted: 07/25/2013 Application Due: Open Until Filled Type: Full Time Job Summary/Basic Functions The Videographer creates high caliber promotional video productions in support of the marketing, public relations, recruiting, retention and fundraising efforts of the University of Northern Colorado (UNC). The position reports to the Director of Creative Services and works closely in a team environment with the Director of Web Communications, Director of News and Public Relations, University Relations marketing personnel and various project managers from throughout the university. The role ensures high quality video production is used for promoting the university which spans a broad spectrum of content areas, including interviews, academic topic areas, news, profiles, events and general university awareness topics. To meet these needs, the Videographer collaborates with a variety of individuals from across the university and the local community.

The Videographer must gain a thorough understanding of the university brand and be able to infuse it as a foundation in all video projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: a) Project Planning and Coordination Develop ideas for video projects that will advance the university Actively contribute to creative concept development of individual video projects Consult and coordinate with project managers from throughout the university to provide final videos that meet desired outcomes Develop a system for streamlining the completion of video projects from concept to completion Communicate with the university Web Master to utilize the delivery resources of the streaming server, web site, YouTube and Facebook Coordinate video projects, in whole or in part, with outside vendors as required b) Video Production Plan, coordinate and manage timelines, assets, talent and locations Develop effective video settings for each production including lighting, sound, camera/subject placement, and background to achieve desired high quality results Produce professional footage using appealing shot composition, sound, lighting, appropriate use of equipment and effective troubleshooting Direct the set as required, working with talent, project managers and creative directors c) Post Production and Editing Capture, transfer and log video files into selected software Identify and implement selected "best" shots Perform expert-level editing incorporating filters, titling, motion graphics, audio sweetening and image handling Perform motion graphic rendering, audio and video conversion and compression, and DVD authoring of the final product d) Video Documentation Maintain an accessible video footage organization system Record and develop a strong b-roll archive including imagery from: classes, meetings, events, activities, and campus and community scenery Create a university video library that is easily accessible by university constituents Serve as the contact for external requests of university video e) Resource Management Maintain all equipment and recommend budget for purchases Ensure budget is established and achieved for each video production Research and maintain expertise in technology trends and best practices related to the professional development of university video assets Supervise and mentor student interns or employees as required Lead video production training seminars for campus departments desiring to create their own video Minimum Qualifications Four or more years of relevant video job experience required. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in digital media communications, cinematography, video production or related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications Required skills/qualifications: Demonstrated creative talent Experience with the creation of promotional videos Ability to independently create and execute video as well as take creative direction Ability to plan, manage and complete concurrent video projects Ability to script video and find and direct talent Hands-on experience with digital video production including equipment management, preproduction, lighting, audio, camera operation, set/talent direction, editing, custom graphic creation, music selection and post-production editing Experience with web-based digital media production, including compression technologies, aspect ratios, file formats, web codecs and accessibility standards Advanced knowledge in the creative use of video and video production including Premiere or Final Cut Pro (Premiere preferred), Adobe Creative Suite (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Audition) Understanding of branding as it applies to video environment Ability to implement digital asset management best practices Ability to build consensus and implement feedback from various sources as necessary Strong attention to detail Ability to work within tight deadlines Positive attitude and strong work ethic Ability to contribute to a team environment Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to update skills on a continual basis and monitor trends in videography Ability to mentor student interns and employees Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule with availability during weekends and evenings as required Valid driver's license Salary and Benefits Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
