The Virtual Construction Manager is the lead contact for strategy, process and modeling on projects. This person has a thorough knowledge of BIM computer applications, 3D design, construction documents and has experience working within a construction management firm. The Virtual Construction Manager maintains continuous contact with Operations, Support Services (i.e. Quality, Safety, Preconstruction) and Business Development / Marketing as well as maintaining professional relationships with designers, owners, subcontractors and software developers.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead efforts for the production, augmentation and coordination of 3D object-oriented models
  • Support Business Development, Preconstruction and Operations teams with model related issues
  • Strategize project-related modeling / CAD requirements with project teams at job startup
  • Manage and implement BIM processes and standards in collaboration with project teams
  • Educate Operations groups on BIM processes and support project specific BIM efforts
  • Establish and/or maintain project specific budgets for project-related modeling efforts
  • Consult with designers, consultants and contractors to establish file management protocols
  • Perform a variety of Virtual Construction services as team lead, or individual (e.g. trade coordination, visual scheduling, model-based quantity take-off, virtual mock-ups)
  • Train project management and field personnel to navigate and operate BIM software
  • Seek ways to infuse safety and quality methodology into overall BIM efforts
  • Assist in the development of the company’s BIM related goals, initiatives, and standards
  • Develop project specific interdisciplinary coordination protocols
  • Develop new ways to utilize model-based information in various phases of projects
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of five year’s experience in the construction industry
  • Self motivated individual with ability to work in a highly collaborative and interactive environment
  • Experience with industry leading model authoring and collaboration software
  • Knowledge of design development, design documentation and local building codes
  • Ability to motivate and manage people by exhibiting proficient leadership skills
  • Detail oriented individual with ability to problem solve
  • Strong technical and written and verbal communication skills
  • Capability to build and maintain strong working interpersonal relationships
