The Visual Arts Specialist
1) is responsible for the development of a comprehensive marketing plan that employs creative, innovative strategies and which will result in increased participation by students, targeted groups, and the general public. This will include the design and distribution of materials, electronic communications, promotions, advertisements, and other forms of media to users and potential users of department program and services. The position is also responsible for developing budgets and evaluating the effectiveness of marketing efforts in conjunction with department needs. The position has administrative responsibility for developing and updating in a timely manner both departments' web pages. (80%)
2) Supervises the Student Graphics Office. The Visual Arts Specialist works with the Student Graphics Office to develop and prepare marketing materials for student group events. (10%)
3) Is responsible for designing and administering research surveys and evaluations to analyze campus constituents' needs and interests and to ensure that the departments are meeting these expectations. In carrying out these duties, the Visual Arts Specialist works with the Director of Campus Activities and Programs and may also work with the Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Evaluation and Research, the Office of Institutional Research, and Information Technology Services. (5%)
4) Is responsible for maintenance of thorough knowledge of State and University policies and regulations as they relate to campus activities, purchasing, contract negotiations and building operations. In addition, the Visual Arts Specialist contributes to the body of knowledge in the student activities and college union field through presentations at regional and national conferences such as the National Association of Campus Activities (NACA), the Association of College-International (ACU-I) or National Association of Student Personnel Association (NASPA) as appropriate. (5%)
HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENCY AND TWO YEARS OF VISUAL/GRAPHIC ARTS EXPERIENCE RELATED TO THE AREA OF ASSIGNMENT; OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE.
